I've suffered with this since a teen due to certain reasons, I also have OCD.

My OCD is always slightly present... Routine, things in it's place, cleaning
And anxiety mainly flared up when waiting for something, routine being messed with, uncertainty.

I'm considering going to the doctors about the issue as 9 out of 10 times I can control it, but lately, mainly coming up to my period, it goes out of control. If my routine's upset I get moody and rush everything..
It's also bad atm as my flat isn't carpeted and half decorated as the walls need sanding and all sorts so already that annoys me but if say I go to bed as I'm tired and haven't tidied the stuff up that I've used in the day.. I want to clean all the next day, if I get upset I just want to clean but I obviously can't if my daughter doesn't want to nap as she's very clingy so toys only occupy her for 10minutes max.. So when I'm unable to clean I get anxious, moody and upset... It's driving me mad and can't carry on!!

So I'm wondering what the doctor will even do, I think I'll be told to speak to my health visitor but I'm worried they'll inform social services as they were involved with my family when I was a child... I've no problem as a parent

Can you not ask the doctor for a referral to a therapist or something.... i dont know where you are but in Canada where i am you can get free counselling in some places or be put on a waitlist for low-income. I'm not sure if you want to take care of it just by working through it with a therapist or get medicated but im sure you can at least search around on the internet or call and find out if there are resources?

If you're seeking help, and aren't an immediate threat to your baby, social services has no reason to become involved. It actually seems like you're temporarily overcoming your OCD because of your responsibilities as a mother. I am in a similar situation. I just moved, and my apartment has been a giant mess, which drives me completely insane all the time. And my boyfriend doesn't have the time (or interest) in cleaning up, he just makes a bigger mess, which makes the anxiety worse.

I've had the OCD "characteristics" for years... necessary routine, order, cleanliness and tidiness, or I'm anxious and moody. Only this week has my new therapist decided that they will speak with my new psychiatrist (I just moved) about looking into these characteristics. I also count a bit... I like even numbers and numbers divisible by 3 or 5 (when I'm walking, brushing my hair, putting on deodorant). Do you do anything else besides get anxious when things are messy?

Sorry... been sharing simply because I didn't know anyone else knew how I was feeling.

Anyway, your health provider should direct you to a counselor/therapist, who may decide to have you meet with a psychiatrist to discuss possible medications if the therapy doesn't help enough. But remember that it is your choice to take or not take medication, not the doctor's. They can only give you a recommendation.

Good luck :)
