I researched getting my hair dyed and read that it is considered safe and that foils are better

I spoke to my hairdresser she said foils would be fine and that she had coloured her hair while she was pregnant, she made sure she didnt go right up to the scalp and layered cotton wool between each packet to ensure nothing dripped (at this point i felt very secured that she was being cautious)

however after the foils were taken out i had a toner put on my hair all over and it was on my scalp, it was left for about 5 minutes

now im worried, should i be?

if you didn't go into anaphylactic shock immediately then not at all. the reason that hair colour can be a concern in pregnancy is that you can become unusually sensitive.... from your friendly neighbourhood hairdresser

Hi, I found this on the nhs website. Hope it helps x

Most research, although limited, shows that it’s safe to colour your hair while pregnant. Some studies have found that very high doses of the chemicals in hair dyes may cause harm. However, these doses are massive compared to the very low amount of chemicals that a woman colouring her hair is exposed to.

I am a hairdresser and its not harmful to the baby the only concern would be that ur hair didnt take the colour and if u had became allergic to the hair dye because of the change in hormones :-) hope this is helpful xx

Also a hairdresser and the others are correct - only concern is an allergic reactionx

Hi, I usually use foils and have to do a toner because my natural color is very dark. Toner does have ammonia in it, which is somewhat different than regular color. When I last got my hair colored, I decided to opt out of a toner, to my stylist's dismay... My color doesn't look so good. I'll be using toner next time, I'll be at 12 weeks.. when chemicals aren't as harmful to the baby. Hair dresser used toner and color directly on her own scalp her entire pregnancy and is sure it doesn't do harm. I think its just a personal choice.

I highlighted my hair yesterday and i read and my hd said uts ok... Full colir allover isnt..:-)
