I have two LO's, Ted (Theodore) and Violet. These are the lists of names I like, I'd love to know which names you would/wouldn't go for, for example which names are too similar to my LO's names or other problems I haven't spoted! :flower:

Boys:
Rupert (maybe too rhymey with Violet?)
Sebastian (Seb and Ted maybe sound too similar?)
Fox
Julian (nn would likely be Jude)
Albert (would go by Albie)
Wilfred (would go by Wilf, but I'm worried people would call him Fred/Freddie, which is too close to Ted/Teddy!)

Girls
Isobel
Emilia (Emmy)
Clara
Arielle
Effie
Lyra
Isla (too similar to Violet?)
Mabel
Tabitha (DH doesn't like Tabitha but I live in hope he'll change is mind!)

Rupert - Love! On my list, husband is having none of it.
Sebastian - Love the full name, but Seb and Ted are too similar for my liking.
Fox - Never heard it used as a name before?
Julian (nn would likely be Jude) - Like Jude, but not Julian
Albert (would go by Albie) - On our list!
Wilfred (would go by Wilf, but I'm worried people would call him Fred/Freddie, which is too close to Ted/Teddy!) - don't like, sorry.

Isobel - On our list.
Emilia (Emmy) - Emilia and Emily are on our list.
Clara - :nope:
Arielle - :nope:
Effie - :nope:
Lyra - :nope:
Isla (too similar to Violet?) Used to love it but have gone off it recently. I don't think it's too similar to your daughter's name though :)
Mabel - :nope:
Tabitha (DH doesn't like Tabitha but I live in hope he'll change is mind!) - I'm with your husband on this one!

Ted (Theodore) and Violet are both classic but not dated and old fashioned or in the modern genre of names, I think you should match that

Boys:
Rupert - good match but a little unusual
Sebastian - good match, classic but not old or modern
Fox - sounds to modern and hippy with the others
Julian - could maybe work but not as well
Albert - ok, same as above
Wilfred - sounds like a dogs name and doesnt match the others

Girls
Isobel - could work
Emilia (Emmy) - sounds to exotic next to the others
Clara - works really well
Arielle - to modern sounding to match
Effie - does not go
Lyra - to modern sounding match
Isla - hate this and too modern sounding
Mabel - to old fashioned sounding
Tabitha - I like this name, it goes ok and could work

I think Rupert or Sebastian are best for a boy
and
Clara goes perfect for a girl

I like Julian (Jude) I love Albert too and my cousin and grandad are both Albies.

I think Isobel goes best for the girls.

Jade was nearly a clara but I went off it, I do think its nice but I prefer Isobel.

Rupert (maybe too rhymey with Violet?) - Don't think it's too rhymey, I love it!
Sebastian (Seb and Ted maybe sound too similar?) - Really love Sebastian. Seb and Ted are similar but maybe you could just call him Bash or Sebastian instead?
Fox - Like it as a middle name. That coming from someone seriously considering the name Wolfgang, so if you love it ignore me :haha:
Julian (nn would likely be Jude) - Really like it.
Albert (would go by Albie) - Adore it, especially Albie.
Wilfred (would go by Wilf, but I'm worried people would call him Fred/Freddie, which is too close to Ted/Teddy!)- I love Wilfred! If you're worried about the Fred thing you could consider Wilbur? I saw that on the Telegraph name announcements list the other day and was so pleased it's being used again, such a great name!

Isobel - Like it in theory but it is so so popular now that it just annoys me. Much better spelling than Isabelle/Isabella though.
Emilia (Emmy) - Prefer it to Amelia but it reminds me of Daenarys from GOT.
Clara - Gorgeous name!
Arielle - Again, gorgeous name!
Effie - Love Effie. Goes really well with Ted and Violet.
Lyra - Really like Lyra, and love the celestial theme.
Isla (too similar to Violet?) - Like it but don't love it as it's so common now.
Mabel - Reminds me of the Blue Peter dog from my childhood but that's not a bad thing! Lovely name.
Tabitha (DH doesn't like Tabitha but I live in hope he'll change is mind!) - Really like it. Tibby is an adorable nickname.

Boys:
Rupert - love it! Super cute on a little boy and grows well for a man.
Sebastian- not a fan, just because someone in real life ruined it for me
Fox - love it! Cute, different, would suit a grown man but is sooo cute on a little boy.
Julian- I prefer Jude than Julian
Albert- again, I love Albie, but not sure about Albert
Wilfred- hehe I'm sure people will call him Fred/Freddie!

Girls
Isobel- love the spelling, but I am no longer a fan of the name because where I am, every second girl is called Isabelle/Isabella
Emilia (Emmy)- love it :) it's a lovely name and nickname
Clara- I know this is silly but it reminds me of Clarice from Silence of the lambs lol
Arielle- beautiful :)
Effie - I feel like you need a very strong personality to pull this name off
Lyra- not really a fan
Isla- beautiful name. I think it goes fine with Violet :)
Mabel- it's okay :)
Tabitha (DH doesn't like Tabitha but I live in hope he'll change is mind!) makes me think of bewitched hehe but very cute.

I LOVE your little ones names by the way. Very lovely names which are classic but chic.

Boys:
Rupert - doesn't rhyme with Violet to me at all, I think it's cute.
Sebastian - Like quite a bit
Fox - not a fan, I feel like he'd get "hot as a fox" jokes
Julian - Like
Albert - Like
Wilfred - This was the name of my university (in Canada) and the uni restaurant was called "Wilf's" so that's the first thing I think of, but not a bad thing at all. Sounds very old fashioned, but I like it and your nn options.

Girls
Isobel - Like
Emilia (Emmy) - Like
Clara - Like
Arielle - Like
Effie - Not a fan :( Reminds me of the F-word for some reason
Lyra - never heard it before, but nice
Isla - rhymes with Violet, but I like it
Mabel - very cute :) like
Tabitha - I hope he changes his mind too! Very cute name, might be my favourite here.

Thanks everyone! My favourites are Albie and Isobel- I still feel regret over not naming DD Isobel :dohh:. I'm put off by how popular it is but that was our reason for not going for it with DD and I wished we had so if DH agrees to it if LO is a girl we'll likely go with that :). I think DH is put off Tabitha because I said I wanted to call DD Tabitha Catherine so her nn would be Tabby Cat  :haha:.
DH also refuses to allow Fox and Mabel, boo :haha:.

I like Sebastian and Julian for boys names and Emilia and Effie for girls names. I LOVE Effie but I'm not sure I'd name my own child that... I think it might be too out there at the moment, but if the 'old lady' name trend continues I could see it being popular in a few years.

I love Fox in theory because I'm a big X-Files fan but I'm not sure I would like it on someone who isn't David Duchovny. ;)

Lyra is way too close to Lycra for me.

The rest are nice! Wilfred is adorable but the first thing I think of is that weird show about the talking dog with Elijah Wood. It's not very well-known so probably not a huge issue but it turns me off of it slightly.

Pretty much agree with this!!

My favourites are Rupert and Clara. Rupert is on my list of boys names, it's a classic that people are familiar with but I don't think I've ever met one.
Second favourites would be Sebastien and Tabitha. Great names.

Thanks everyone! :flower:.
Just to add, LO will have 2 middle names. If it is a girl one mn will be Alice, the other isn't decided but will most likely be bird or nature themed- Avocet, Daisy and Aurora are contenders. If it's a boy one mn will be Julian (if we don't use it as a first name) and the other might be nature temed- Fox (if I can convince DH!), Leif or Bittern maybe.

Rupet Julian Lief

&

Clara Alice Avocet

think the girls name is great and the boys name flows nice

Boys:

Rupert - :nope:
Sebastian - Seb and Ted - yes, too similar
Fox - Doesn't go with the sibset
Julian (nn. Jude) - Love!
Albert (nn. Albie) - :nope:
Wilfred - Not a fan at all, sorry.

Girls:

Isobel - Prefer Isabella
Emilia (Emmy) - Love!
Clara - Just ok
Arielle - Love!
Effie - :nope:
Lyra - Pretty!
Isla - Love!
Mabel :nope:
Tabitha - Nowhere near as pretty of a name as Violet, in my opinion.

My favs are:

Theodore, Violet, & Julian
Theodore, Violet, & Arielle

Boys:
Rupert (maybe too rhymey with Violet?) Love this strong boys name
Sebastian (Seb and Ted maybe sound too similar?) Or could be shortened to sebby. .. and my favourite out of your list.
Fox ... not sure about this. Have you considered Knox?
Julian (nn would likely be Jude) I prefer just jude
Albert (would go by Albie) Love!!! Our sons middle name is Albie
Wilfred (would go by Wilf, but I'm worried people would call him Fred/Freddie, which is too close to Ted/Teddy!) Sorry reminds me of the school books biff, chip, Kippa and Wilf is a girl

Girls
Isobel beautiful
Emilia (Emmy) our daughters middle name so gorgeous
Clara not a fan
Arielle not a fan
Effie like this, traditional and pretty
Lyra not liking this
Isla (too similar to Violet?) I don't think it's too similar but very common right now
Mabel reminds me of the blue Peter dog sorry but still a nice name.
Tabitha (DH doesn't like Tabitha but I live in hope he'll change is mind!) I like this too

So I'm just jumping in. I like all your names but Wilfred, probably would be too close to your Ted. Seb would be really close, but I really like the nickname Bash for Sebastian, could be something to consider to put it back in the running :)

Of the names on your list, I like Albie and Sebastian, and think they would work well with the names of your older two. Sebastian is my favourite and the Ted/Seb thing wouldn't put me off (my 2 are Benjamin and Sebastian so Ben/Seb is a similar issue but has never bothered me).

I love Isobel but has become a little too popular for my liking, but if you regret not using it previously then go for it. I also think Clara is lovely, and possibly a better match to your other names. Before you mentioned middle names, Alice actually came to mind as a name that would match well.

Congratulations by the way. I know you've been thinking about no.3 for a while and I only realised you were expecting when I saw this thread. Great news :-)
