I sent off for my healthy start vouchers 2 weeks ago. Was amazed to recieve them today. I generally expected to be pretty far in pregnancy before I got them. Anyone who hasn't thought of them yet and is entitled to them, I'd send off now. I know it's not much. £3.10 a week to be exact and at the mo you don't need baby milk, but they help a little with the shopping when it comes to milk and fruit and veg.. :)

Oh wow, I forgot you got them. I'm too early but once I've hit maybe 10 weeks i'll see if i am entitled to them. Think I would be! Thanks for the reminder! :)

Your midwife should give you the form at your first appointment. If not I say ask for it. I actually thought when I sent off, I wouldn't get them until very far gone/after birth. But thought I'd be organised. But nope. 4 vouchers came in the post today :D

Thats brilliant. Like you said every little helps when your doing the messages.

My midwife said i will get the form when i go for my 12 week scan. Ive just had a look online and can apply from 10 weeks so i might do it then. Like you said its not much but it does help and then it goes up to £6.20 a week when the lo is born xx

Yep. At the moment I'll just give the vouchers to my mom to be honest, since I drink a lot of milkshake and eat a lot of cerial I'm forever getting moaned at for using all the milk. So, now she can't complain lol. x

Good idea...will probaby give mine to my parents too. I wont need them until me and oh get our own house after christmas xx

i get them, their a great help.. i buy my weekly fruit for my daughter with them now,,they go back to 3.10 a week once their one i thinkx

At my GP's they gave me a booklet called Emma's Diary and there are vouchers you can get with that too. One of them is £100 off at Argos and I think some smaller vouchers for other places too! I think you may be able to get that too even if you didn't get the booklet though. All you need to do is go to the website and sign up for it. https://www.emmasdiary.co.uk/

Are you not entitled to them if you work?

I don't think you can :(. But this explains anyway..

Yeah I got that. Got the two free baby packs from argos aswell. Loved 'em. But those pregnancy sweets were vile! :| lol.

Does anybody else think it's wrong that all the unemployed people on benefits get all these vouchers and help. If you can not support your children why are you having them? I'm sick of paying tax for people who think it's their human right to breed and get everything for free without contributing anything back.

Yes I'm agreed on that one. I work my arse off and get nothing free.

Why can't we all get them? I don't get that at all.

It's not right. I work 37.5 hours a week, not through choice but because I have to so I can live. Yet people on benefits (who are probably better off than workers) get stuff free.

No wonder the country is on it's arse!!! Rant over lol x

Yeah, sorry for my rant, but it just feels unfair that me and my husband are already worrying how to afford mortgage, all the bills, childcare etc. And I have quite a few neighbours with loads of kids, don't work and live in houses that we could never ever afford! And I really don't think they pay council tax or other bills themselves... And I think with all these government cuts at the moment, us working people are going to be losing even more :(

Yes I think it's unfair! We pay taxes and get sweet fa!
I don't begrudge people who do get them but think it's unfair for te rest of us!
It's like the child tax credit for people earning over 40k is stopping next year.... In
Places like Devon and up north where living is cheaper and house prices are cheaper yes that's alot of money but in London it's nothing!

Hey girlies! Please be wary of Emma's diary!! I have heard some bad things about them and believe there're a few threads on here about it. Check them out before you sign up to it.xox

Thank you CrazyKitty! Just goes to show you cannot always trust stuff even from your GP. Did a lil research as you suggested and found out that Emma's Diary like to sell your info to third parties and that other ladies here were then inundated with cold calls and all that. So I went to the site and un-subscribed. Sure, the Argos voucher would have been nice but I get so many cold calls already, even though I asked my provider to take my name off that list. Did you ladies know there is a list and that you have to actively opt out to not receive cold calls any more? Yeah.

I do agree that it's not fair that only unemployed people get them, everyone could do with a little help. Babies ain't cheap. I was shocked to find out the stuff you get. but, I don't want to sound like a hypocrite, because I am currently unemployed .

About the emma's diary thing. The £50 voucher isn't legit. Well, You do get it! BUT, it's actually £50s worth of vouchers, a fiver off this, a fiver off that. But if you get the booklet off your midwife. You get two mom to be goodie bags that are pretty good. All you do is fill in the two forms, take them down to argos and they give you the goodie bags there and then. So, I'd reccomend that instead of signing up to the website.
