I'm having some spotting now which has been checked out to be normal. Just wondering if any other older Mom's have been through this? It scared me!

Hi there! I am 35 and spotted all the way through my second tri. I am now 33 weeks and still have just a bit from time to time. The spotting has been largely unexplained, but my OB suspects there was a small bleed behind the placenta that the u/s could not detect. Spotting is absolutely scary, and I can sympathize with the feeling of your heart sinking any time you see blood during pregnancy. I would like for you to know though, that as scary as seeing blood was every day during my second tri, things seem to have largely healed up, and the baby has been brilliant through all of this. I do feel assured that things in that area are fine now. if I can just rid myself of the tachycardia/pulse issues that came on in third tri!

I am sorry you have gone through this. I know it is scary, but there are many, many reassuring stories out there of women bleeding (unexplained) through pregnancy and going on to have very healthy babies. I am sure yours will be one of them. Best wishes to you, hun!

I'm having it too! I'm 38, 39 in a week GAH!

I spotted up to about 5 months with my daughter (when I was 35) and this one is turning out much the same. Had a scan at 8 weeks (9 now) and bubs was there wriggling around. They couldn't see any issues and doc says sometimes it just happens, sometime all the way through the pregnancy.

It is scary but I'm just putting my faith in God that all with be well.

My daughter is fabulous and was a nice, healthy, screaming 7lbs 7oz so no adverse effects there. She is now a super charges almost 4 year old with WAY more energy than Mama!!

If the doc says all is OK and you feel OK, then trust that.

I spot pretty much daily - it's annoying, frustrating and scary all wrapped up in one but I guess I'm just a "bleedy" girl!

Stay positive and positive things will happen :)

Am 39, 40 by January. At 5 weeks 2 days and I've been spotting for the past three weeks. Dark brown. Its really scary and annoying but heard is normal so fx

Thanks ladies! Mine was bright red and very light. It seems to be about all gone but at least I know if this happens again I will not freak out so much. I'm sure like all of us in this category, every little thing that might go wrong is scary! :hugs:

I've just seen this thread - i had a sudden bright red bleed at 10 weeks, and have been spotting darker blood every day since then. I had a scan 4 days after the onset of bleeding, and baby was fine, so I am just trying to stay relaxed about this.

Week 13 scan on Thursday, and I get to check on baby again then. I think I will press more to find out what is causing the bleeding. I don't know if it was simply that there wasn't anything to see at 10 weeks, but the nurse said it was just one of those things. I was the one asking if i had a hematoma! And they certainly didn't check my cervix - it really seemed that as long as baby was okay, they weren't too concerned about investigating the cause.

Sorry this is an ongoing issue. My Doctor couldn't tell me what it was either. Said it could be sex, over exerting myself or hormones. Mine was like a very lite period and went away in the same fashion so I'm leaning toward hormones. At least if this happens again I won't be as scared and I know the real indicator of a problem will be pain. Good luck!:hugs:
