We have been ttc for a few months now with no luck, my GP referred me to the hospital who found I have high prolactin which is stopping me ovulating. I have been taking the meds for just over 3 weeks. The medication should bring my prolactin level back down so I will ovulate again. Just wondered if any other ladies have taken this and how long did it take to work? I know we are all different but just curious.

Hi there. I was diagnosed with high prolactin a few years ago. I have a prolactinoma. I'm not on Bromocriptine but was on Cabergoline (very similar but apparently less side effects). I had IUI in September and in the the run up to this was told to come off the Cabergoline. The IUI was unsuccessful and since I was not put back on the Cabergoline my prolactin levels are slowly rising again and my home ovulation tests are telling me that I'm ovulating very, very late in my cycle. I'm due for some FSH/LH blood tests when the :witch: finally puts in an appearance

Thanks for your reply, its sooo hard when we have no control isnt it? Im sorry your IUI wasnt successful. My endocrinologist has told me that the med will bring my prolactin down quickly and conceiving shouldnt be a problem. You know when you just get the feeling things arent going to be that simple!

Your under an endocrinologist and that's half the battle. They know what they're doing. I haven't seen one since I moved house and hence hospitals and I was not really being monitored - GP didn't even know what a prolactinoma was!! So don't worry, if raised prolactin is your only problem (not mine unfortunately - got severe endo) you'll be bouncing a baby soon :)
