Hi Ladies,

Well as the title suggests really.... Have any of you had to have a c-section and then had to go home alone and cope?

If so how did you do it? I have been told today I will be having a section but Im more worried about the recovery of being on my own.. lifting baby, moving around etc.

Any tips or stories?

Thanks

:hugs: didnt want to read and run,
do you know anyone who can help you?

Glad you asked this as I have the same worry, only not quite the same as i have no need for one as yet. Just one of those things that plays on my mind x

I'm not a single mum, but I did have a section. During your time in hospital, they do tell you that you can lift your own baby so don't worry about that. Things you can't do are lift them in a car seat, lift prams into cars etc. This wasn't a problem for me with DH about, but do just start to plan how you will get around so that it's not something you're suddenly worrying about at the time. Other things I struggled with was having him on his gym on the floor...I couldn't bend down to pick him up for a week or so, but at that age you are just carrying them a lot more.

TBH, although it is easier having someone to help, it isn't impossible to do it on your own. You are allowed to lift baby, so just make sure you don't end up putting them somewhere you can't get them back from i.e. on the floor and you should be OK.

You need to do a LOT of resting, and newborns sleep a lot. I found that having him in his moses basked right next to the bed meant that I wasn't really moving that much on a day to day basis. Just remember to lift yourself up properly and slowly (you're supposed to roll onto your side and push up) and that an extra 5 seconds of crying is better for the baby than you trying to rush and hurting yourself and not being able to get to them at all.

Good luck with the birth x

Thanks for your advice... Its very helpful!

Im sure i will be ok when the time comes but it all just seems so daunting at the moment :-( x
