Hi Destiny,

Your legs will be easier and you can go one side then the other or work upwards or downwards to avoid the same sites. I'll try and attach an image file showing sites but am rubbish at uploading things! I found I got sore as well if I inadvertantly managed to push the needle further in as I pushed the pen plunger, try and keep the pen held so the needle is in the skin but not pushing in if that makes sense. Occasionally you will just pick a bad spot but it will sort in time.

I saw your other post about finding it hard, this isn't your fault, the last trimester is the main one for insulin resistance and is caused by the changes in hormones, not you! I found everything sent my sugars up and once I started insulin I could at least eat a reasonably normal diet. I ended up re-titrating my insulin upwards every few days until 36 weeks then I found I could maintain, don't worry if you do need more, the main aim for the next few weeks is to stop your little prince getting a sugar fix! I ended up at 47 units of insulin per day and a few units of long acting. My growth scans were all on the high side but within limits, my little boy was born slightly early at 6lbs 10oz!

Keep going, only a few weeks now till the maltesers!

Can't do the image thing, try and search google images for subcutaneous sites, basically the outer thighs below the hips to a two thirds of the way towards the knee, if that makes any sense!?! Get the diabetic nurse to have a look at where you are sore when you next go,

I am a type 1 diabetic and they wanted me to inject in my abdomen but I have always injected in my legs (yes, for 19 years) - it is easier for me and far less painful - I do occassionalyy use my abdomen and don't always have trouble, but I still prefer my legs.

You should not be aching there though even if the injection hurts - usually it causes stinging though over a long period of time in the same spot it can cause a fat build up which could cause discomfort. Rather switch places and see if the ache is still there and if it is then talk to someone about it.
