Anybody had an ovarian reserve /egg count scan please?

Had my scan today for ovarian reserve to count the number of egg follicles left.

The lady started off really chatty then went silent while doing the scan. Afterwards she was really quiet and didn't really speak. When I asked if she would give me the results today she said they didn't like them to give any details and my results would be given in my next consultant appointment in January 😣.

Is it normal for them not to say anything at all about the results. I feel really worried that it's bad news but I don't know if I'm looking into it to much.

The same thing happened to me - I wasn't told anything at the time of the scan and told to wait until I saw the consultant. I was also really worried, but turned out I didn't need to be as the results were good. I asked the consultant why I couldn't have been told earlier and they told me that the sonographers who do the scans aren't allowed to tell you anything about the results that they find. This is partly because in order to interpret the scan findings accurately they also need the information from blood tests and your medical history etc

I'm sorry that you've got to wait until January though to hear the results. Try not to read anything into it, although I know that's easier said than done!

Fx4babydust thank you so much for replying. That's really put my mind at rest that it is standard procedure. I have got a blood test and tube dye test before our next consultation so I suppose it makes sense that they look at everything together. It's just so easy to worry and over analyse everything!

The sonographers should just say before starting that they won't give any results at the end! It would save so much worry!
