Ahh!!! I am going to a free standing birth center and it is a one hour drive away (on a nice summer day and no construction). Well, i live in coastal New England (USA) and February (the month i am due!) is THE WORST winter month of the year! Im nervous about trekking through bad roads and im thinking it would take longer than an hour in the winter...what all are you doing about this possibility of bad roads? Im worried about roads being closed, or the weather just being way too bad to go anywhere...i have no trouble with the idea of giving birth on my own, i firmly believe in being able to do so, but i dont like the prospects of a long (and maybe dangerous) car ride that could slow my labor down...i had a 30 hour labor with DS and i am petrified to have another long birth, so i dont want to do anything to impede the progression of labor...there is a hospital within 10 min of my house, but i flat out refuse to go back there unless there is a medical reason to do so...i delivered my son there, and tbh, i do not trust them....anyways, im ranting now
thoughts? Anyone else in a similar situation?
