I am really excited about getting a new look this year and am just itching to cut my hair. I've been watching lots of videos and think I can get it right...and if not, it's just hair, it can grow back :) I've cut it myself once before about five years ago. It isn't terribly long now, just about shoulder length. But I'm wanting like a really short pixie with bangs. Just looking to see if any other ladies cut their own hair and can offer some tips!

I would never cut my own hair. It is too easy to cut wrong once and ruin it.

No i wouldnt ever do my own hair! I cut the boys hair though :)

I do! I'm a hairdresser although I cut my hair before becoming one. But I'd never do a pixie or crop on my own and you can never get to the back properly. If you managed it I'd be super impressed!

I do but I don't really style it only cut in a side fringe and trim. The first time I did it was when I had really long hair and chopped it off to shoulder length and put my fringe in. If you are going to do it don't go as short as you want at first because of you get it slightly wrong you can fix it.

I have a fringe so I have to go every few weeks to get it trimmed which is a pain in the ass but not a chance could I cut it myself I'm rubbish with anything like that. I have long hair now but the annoying thing about short hair was having it trimmed every 6 weeks but I just can't imagine cutting short hair myself. I have friends who trim their own fringes although they tend to be wispier fringes or ones that go to theside mine is a blunt fringe so much more noticeable when done wrong!

I cut my own hair. I have long hair (bra length) with layers in it. I usually cut around 2" off at a time, add more layers and have it feathered around my face. This to me is dead easy!

I wouldn't attempt to cut it into a pixie style myself. As a PP said, the back would be very hard to get right. I would suck it up and pay hairdresser to do it - this is coming from someone who cuts and dyes own hair, do my own acrylic nails, waxes eyebrows etc because I refuse to pay someone to do it when I can do it myself.

I do my own, but if you want it short, it's really difficult to get the back right unless you have a lot of carefully positioned mirrors to see what you are doing, and steady hands.

Well, I decided to spend the money and go to a salon. :) So glad I did, I would not have been able to get that look myself. I forgot to take a before and after shot though.

This. I cut my own hair, but it's long and I can hide a horrible cut in a ponytail if I want. Short hair is hard to get right, even professionals usually do mine bad.

I cut and dye my own hair, do my own nails (not acrylic though but just preference), wax my eyebrows, and is considering doing my own bikini waxing because I refuse to pay for something I can do myself. I can buy the top of the line bikini wax kit for less than the price of one bikini wax here...and it's amazon prime so I can return it if it's awful...

I wish I knew how to do my own bikini waxing, it's £30 for a Hollywood at my local salon but I wouldn't have a clue how to do it myself as I like hot wax. Due to go in next week but could really do without the cost!

The cheapest I've found here is $42, but most reputable places are $65+ for the full monte. I've never had it done before and was thinking of trying it, but not for those prices...you can get a high end hot wax warmer (hard wax, no strips) on amazon prime for $55....worth a try....excellent reviews.

Apparently if you are new to it, it could take upwards of 3 hours the first time doing it yourself though....I may just budget it in while I'm pregnant though, nothing like trying to work AROUND your bump to do something like that, now fine, but next month? or the next?

I do but my hair goes well past my waist and mistakes dont even show ;p

Get an epilator. I bought one and do my bikini line with it along with underarms.

Epilators kinda scare me! Ive never tried one. I figured if I waxed for a few months it would make the hair finer so it will be easier to do something myself down the line, my last wax was much less painful than the previous couple.

When she says Hollywood, I think that means ALL. I would not use an epilator beyond strictly the bikini LINE parts...but that is me!

that is what I am going for too, the whole shebang. Lol.

Yeah I mean everything, takes about 20 mins to wax, it's just so easy to get someone else to do it! Wish it wasn't so expensive, I've found someone cheaper who uses strips instead and insists she doesn't notice much difference but the last strip wax I had was way more painful than hotwax.

I trim my own hair but it's really long so doesn't really show mistakes. I'd pay the money if I wanted a whole new style.

Also, hair removal cream is amazing for your lady bits. I apply mine, scrap it off gently and then sit in the bath for a little while. No pain or ingrown hairs. Just have to be careful about not getting anything... up there. I usually shave that part :flower:

Theres ways to get round cutting your hair especially if you are on your own. Loads of youtube videos out there - its all rather experimental though.

I cant even bleach my own roots perfectly unless I get DH to do it though, and I am trained as a hairdresser
