Hi everyone!

Just wondering if anyone else was dealing with serious water retention in their hands and/or feet - and what you do to alleviate it (if anything at all).

I know I don't have pre-clampsia because my blood pressure is awesome (and because the doctor said so), but wow! I have had the famous Seinfeld's "man hands" now for the past month and swelling in hands and feet (varies). It's definitely better than before I went on maternity leave and was driving three hours a day to/from work - but it's still quite much.

I'd love to hear how long it took to go away too (for those of you who have had it before)...

Ah, the joys of pregnancy! While this might sound like a rant to some, I have to say I have had a great pregnancy so far - and with the bloating being the worst of it, I feel pretty darn lucky!!

I'm starting to notice it with me..... but it goes away at night, and when I wake up, it's gone. I think it's from being on my feet all day, and water all at the same time.

I just put my feet up in the evening, with a pillow under them on the coffee table. My hands are sometimes like sausage fingers!!! I should have taken my wedding rings off a few weeks ago, because they only way to get them off, is to wait for the baby to come!! I'm not getting them cut off, cuz I'm not losing circulation or anything.... (yet)!!

Good lucky honey, I hope you figure it out. I think maybe try eating less salt too.... that might have something to do with it too.

xx

I get it quite awful in my feet... The only way to make it better is to sit down with my feet up and it goes away. Of course, if I stand up for too long (ie: about 10 min) then the pain returns.

So far my BP has been good too except for once, but I have carpal tunnel in my hands which is making them swell, and I also have swelling in my ankles and feet. Drinking a LOT of water seems to help, and keeping them elevated during the evening. They used to shrink down to normal overnight while I slept, but now not so much. :hugs:

I've looked like a Macy's Thanksgiving Day balloon for over a month. If I sit too long or stand too long it gets really bad, especially in my feet. The best thing I've found that works is to drink more water (I drink about 70 oz/day now), and to lie down with my feet propped up above heart level.

Sitting at the computer for long stretches REALLY makes my feet swell up!!

had it both other 2 pregnancies and it didnt go away until the baby was born. my feet and ankles swell most days even if i si with tem up. rest as much as you can.

with me they do think its the start of pre-eclampsia again as BP keeps going up, getting headaches and going dizzy.

My feet and fingers only started swelling last week. My midwife suggested drinking lots of water (I was anyway but I've upped it to 10 glasses a day) and celery. Apparently it's really good for flushing out your system.

I only started eating it (4/5 sticks per day) since Saturday and I can already see an improvement. Still swollen by bedtime but nowhere near as bad as they were.

Hope this helps.

i had this quite midly for a while but for the last week or so its got loads worse...my blood pressures fine so i'm not worried but it gets really uncomfortable in the evenings (and my ankles, lower hald of legs and feet look really freaky- i look like a monster from the knees down!) they used to go down over night but not anymore :-( i find going swimming, a cool bath or soaking my feet in cold water helps- it doesn't really take the swelling away but it gets rid of that sore, stretched, hot acheyness.

I've been drinking gallons of water, which has helped a bit. But not all that much - I loathe my feet and ankles, I look like I have elephantitis.

I am hun, when you press my leg the spot stays there! But, no PIH  considering I had it before, *knock on wood* glad :)
