Anyone else had to stop clomid due to vision problems? What did you end up doing?

I'm having terrible vision problems on clomid and my consultant has said I absolitely must not take it for any more cycles - got to ring up next week to see if its easing (took my last clomid 2 days ago) and to make an appointment to review and see where we go from here.

I just wondered if anyone else had been in the same position?

Thanks

Hi hun, sorry to hear that but could I ask what problems you had with your vision? xx

it started with blurryness and then my right eye wouldnt focus at all (I wear glasses for short sightedness already) it gradually got worse and then the other night it got v weird with flashing lights, orbs, and it was like I could see the air if that makes sense - like a heat haze so everything that moved i could see an indentation in the air that stayed there? The ceiling was looking like it was dripping onto the floor and all sorts of random stuff that wasnt really happening! Today I still cant stand light and am seeing orbs and flashing lights and lines everywhere but its much better and not quite so freaky!

cant stand the light of the pc any more so will log off but just wanted to see if anyone else had the same experience and if they had been offered an alternative to clomid

I got migraine type flashing lights and fuzziness. The hospital I was treated at (Liverpool Women's) is so shite, however, that they didn't even care when I told them. Apparently its a 'normal side effect'.

Rowan, I had the same side effect from Clomid the second month I took it...not as severe as yours, but the fifth night, my eyes became painfully tired when I was reading, and then shortly after, I started seeing flashing lights and blurry motion every time I moved. It was a little scary at first but then I relaxed a little when I realized it was a common side effect of Clomid! Luckily it was the last day that I was on it, but I'm going to tell my FS that I experienced it when I see her this week. In the meantime, they also put me on Femera for days 12-16 because apparently the Clomid didn't work to grow my follies. I have not had any side effects from the Femera so far.

I think once you have stopped taking the Clomid, that side effect should go away right away; it did for me.

Thanks thats great to know - Im pretty much back to normal now 5 days after stopping the clomid - phew! eyes are sore but I can bear light and am only seeing sparkles and can read properly again - yey! I shall never again take my sight for granted! :)

I shall get myself googling femara - great to know theres an alternative - I react to a lot of meds so I suppose I should have known :) fingers crossed femara will be different!
