I wholly confess that I'm technically WTT until Dec but I'm on a "pre-conception" regiment and looking to compare notes with you lovely women!

Mine:

1 Prenatal Vitamin A.M.
1 baby Asprin A.M.
1 bowl of Whole Grain Cheerios (likely a midnight snack the way I roll)
1/2 gallon of iced green tea sweetened with honey (hydration!)
- 45 mins exercise minimum (barn chores)
- Noshing on fresh fruits and lots of green veggies
- Slowly but surely cutting caffeine out of my diet (caffeine free everything!)
- Avoiding Soy due to familial estrogen based cancer risk
- Avoiding ibuprofen as it doubles the risk of miscarriage

technically it's what I like to call assisted NTNP. I know about when I ov, we'll keep that in mind and go from there, but I'm priming my body for the best case scenario.

Hey :) I quit smoking 3 months ago and been taking prenatals past two weeks but that's about it x oh and stopped my birth control about six weeks ago x just finished first af x good luck!!!! x

Wow I didn't know taking ibuprofen doubles the risk for miscarriages... I take it 2 days out of every month for menstrual cramps :( Perhaps I should stop taking them once we are TTC. Thank goodness I wouldn't need to take Advil once I become pregnant since I won't have cramps then!

Yeah I just read that in a big article. I was shocked. I took it for my back

I've been taking prenatal vitamins since the beginning of September, been losing weight for about 3 months (16 pounds down!), and have been charting my temps and CM since June. Just started using OPKs this month, to kinda figure out how long after a positive I ovulate. Getting so excited!

with the positive OPK it could be that you OVd slightly before the test was taken or will OV slightly after. OPKs are a pain.

We're WTT due to health reasons and might get the green light to go for TTC in the next month or it might be a year. It's tough not knowing the timeline.

I definitely am trying to prepare ahead of time: I take a slew of vitamins (partially for a boost to my system because I have multiple food allergies & can't get everything I need from my diet, and partially in prep for TTC), I have a little stack of pregnancy, etc books that I'm working my way through (Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth, The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth, Birth Matters: A Midwife's Manifesta, The Baby Bond, I just ordered The Continuum Concept and I've got a short list of other books to order as I finish the last of this stack), I've been doing regular yoga & exercise.

Some other things I've done in preparation (that aren't really daily): I've researched the two birthing centers near me (3 hours away! yikes!) and the midwives in our area, I've researched developmental toys & other "necessity" products & what is ok to get used vs what should be new, I've found a perfect crochet pattern for a baby sweater and I've made two, which are adorable!. I found a pattern for finger puppets but haven't made any yet.

Due to my health stuff I can't have alcohol (because of the yeast) or sugar or coffee. I never drank soda anyway, but I've had to give up all these things because of my food allergies and trying to heal my system. I used to drink A LOT of coffee. But now I'm 100% caffeine free! See? How nice is that? So when we do start TTC, I've already got those things out of my system!

ooooo I'm sorry about the health issues and food allergies! I'm trying to avoid caffeine like the plague but I'm finding it so damn hard. Especially when I'm eating fast food on the go and their only caffeine free option has a crap ton of sugar my body just doesn't need.

All the vitamins are a great thing though!

Hi ladies, I've just started a WTT regime too! Technically we're WTT as I am very keen but DH prefers to wait a year for various reasons which I mentally agree with but my broody body doesn't! However, in practice we are more NTNP. I wanted a year with no BC first to let my body get back into natural cycles and to be sure that it was cycling fully before we started TTC. We don't use condoms, just 'withdrawal' on fertile days and sometimes not even that (DH is teasing me a bit I feel! Or like me is torn between his sensible side and his instinctive animal side!)

Anyway, as well as not using any BC I am taking Boots Daily Energising Tablets which creates an orangey drink. It seems perfect for pre-conception/early preg because has lots of B vitamins, magnesium, and folic acid, and no Vit A, and I really like it! I've also started trying to wean myself off caffeine and the two cigarettes a day I smoke, as well as getting more sleep, exercise and fresh fruit/veg.

However this first month of my pre-TTC health kick I have been rewarded with a cold, funny tum, and lots of mouth ulcers! I'm telling myself its the toxins leaving my body but tbh I haven't been detoxing really, just making a few changes.

Also I've started recording my cycle stuff like temping, CM, and noting symptoms, so when I do start TTC I know for sure what is 'normal' for me and what isn't rather than just having a vague idea.

I am finding it much easier to try to improve my health for my 'future baby' than when I just try to do it for myself :) Good luck to everybody else with their health changes too! x

I've been taking prenatal vitamins since May, having a proper breakfast in the morning (Wheetabix) Drinking about a pint of milk with my breakfast, eating as my fruit and veg that I can, Walking as much as I can and when Chloe is having her afternoon nap I take 5mins and just sit and relax! I want to be as stress free for conception as possible!

X

Hey hun, you probably are quite literally detoxing. Especially if you're adding more vitamins and nutrients while cleaning up your act. I kicked the caffeine and IMMEDIATELY wound up with a canker sore. Thankfully I'm a pro at healing them as my dentist's fluoride rinse used to make me have giant ones. We no longer use that rinse. I like the idea of being on top of everything just in case there is a surprise along the way.

Hannah: a pint of milk?! WOW! I think you guys have better quality dairy and meat products then we do. The amount of hormones given to our dairy and beef cattle seriously boggles my mind and I wind up shying off milk much to the thrill of my vegan friends. I do, however, enjoy my steaks and hamburgers LOL!

Yeah I'm not normaly a massive milk drinker but need my calcium for a soon to be growing baby ;) I'm sure my midwife last time said you have to drink quite a lot of milk when pregnant, or did she? Ah I can't remember but it won't hurt I supose :)
