I'm 13 weeks and never had it with my previous two pregnancies :(

This time I had a tiny bit of pink discharge on wiping after a bowel movement at 6 weeks which I thought nothing of. Then the day before my scan at almost 12 weeks I had some brown discharge which freaked me out but the scan the next day was fine.

Now this week, I had a slight pinkish brown to my discharge once on wiping a couple of days ago, then last night I took a bath and afterwards when I wiped it was proper dark brown gooey discharge (sorry tmi) once on wiping then slightly pink about another 3 wipes, then nothing again.

I'm fairly sure I'm feeling baby flutters (this is baby #3) so it's been earlier each time. But the pinky browny stuff is freaking me out. It's only ever been on wiping touch wood. But as I've not had it before I'm wondering if others have, and what I should do about it xx

With my first baby I had some spotting at around 13-weeks, and it was not an issue at all.

This time around (also baby #3) I had a major bleed at 13 weeks (literally like someone turned on a faucet and I was pouring out bright red blood, and leaking through pads and clothing faster than I could change them) which after 5 days turned into a brown gooey discharge like you describe, and has been like that constantly for the last 6 weeks. About a week after my initial bleed it was discovered that I have a large hematoma/blod clot, part of which is right in front of the opening of the cervix which is what is constantly leaking/draining out. Baby has miraculously been doing fine this entire time...

If your ultrasound was fine, and if the spotting is only intermittent and stays brown, chances are it might just be some residual 'old blood' making its way out. If you're concerned you can always call your obgyn or midwife for reassurance though :flower:

I only had it in early first trimester. My dr told me it's common in early days but if it continued into second he would investigate. Could be your placenta? I would call de and schedule a visit xx

Thanks I went and got checked out today - cervix all fine no obvious bleeding. Baby looked fine on scan, only thing they said was my placenta is low. I know it's very early days but now I'm on the ceiling worried about that :(

I've had a couple of days of spotting in past week, and everything looked okay during the ultrasound. And like you, I've never had spotting in previous pregnancies. In your case, it could be from your low placenta, but if they doctors are not worried, then try to relax. The vast majority of low placentas move up and out of the way as your uterus grows. :hugs:

Thanks :) my only worry is I've had two sections before so maybe it won't move :| oh dear I'm such a worrier anyway this is going to send me mad I think x

I have what looks like the beginning of placenta previa. I found out today and the dr said it's a great sign that I'm not bleeding. Although it can move, I too had 2 previous sections so it's unlikely he said. I'm also meeting with a maternal fetal specialist to rule out accreta which can often present as previa ( low lying placenta) so it's very important to be followed properly. My OB told me a low placenta ( previa) can cause bleeding including hemorrhage in third trimester, can lead to bed rest etc. For me I'm on pelvic rest no sex as a precaution. I also found out today via routine ultrasound. Zero symptoms I was quite shocked. He said I need to take it easy.... I'm being followed very closely though. I share your same worries :nope:
