I got them a lot in my first pregnancy and I juat got my firstone of this pregnancy. Anyone have any routine or remedies they use to prevent these?

No advice on how to prevent them but I wish I had. I'm getting them really bad, mainly in bed at night and they can be so sore they bring me to tears. Wish they'd go away!

They r awful iv had them in every pregnancy don't really know how to prevent them maybe drinking lots more water but then all u do all night is pee it's a no win situation

Try some bananas. I've gotten Charlie horses my whole life when my potassium levels are low, but you've gotta be careful with potassium supplements while pregnant. A safe way to combat this is to eat two bananas per day for a few days. I switch to one banana per day after 3-5 days as long as the leg cramps are gone. After a while, I just forget or decide I don't wanna see another banana again. Lol. Hope it helps!

I've never gotten bad cramps but have had some smaller ones. And I know for me it's directly related to dehydration. The best thing I do for myself can also be a pain. I drink a glass of water before bed. When I get up to pee in the night (thankfully I only get up once still) I drink another glass. That actually helps stave off the calf cramps for me.

Im gonna try some magnesium spray and see if that helps

I wish i liked bananas! I loathe them, wont touch em either cause they make my skin itch. Haha

Ah those are the worst! Dehydration will make them worse. Magnesium supposedly helps. I take a supplement called Bioplasma made by Hylands. My midwife suggested it. It's a homeopathic combination of 12 cell salts or electrolytes. I usually add it to my water everyday. I haven't gotten leg and foot cramps as often since I started taking it. It has magnesium in it. Not sure if it's a coincidence or if it has really helped. She suggested it because she said it was good for the amniotic fluid and to stay properly hydrated, but I've also noticed I haven't woken up with leg cramps in awhile. **touch wood **

Oh I got them all the time in my 1st pregnancy, horrible! I mentioned I to my MW and she said lots of water, bananas, and salt would help. They did!

I get them every pregnancy, always in the middle of the night! Here's what always gets rid of them for me:

- NEVER forgetting your prenatal! I'm terrible at remembering mine, but if I miss two days in a row I'm rewarded with awful 3:00 am cramps from my calf down through the arch of my feet into my toes. It's a good reminder to take them haha!

- eating food fortified with other vitamins. I have a bowl of Multi Grain Cheerios every morning for an extra dose of everything.

- drinking Vitamin Water or a similar product high in electrolytes, esp. potassium and magnesium. A peach, banana and spinach smoothie is high in both, especially if you use frozen spinach (way more calories/nutrients per serving than fresh, since the water's already cooked out).

- lots and lots of water.

Ok I've had my prental, done my magnesium spray and drank my water. Bring it on sleep!

Oh, no! I don't like bananas, but I'd rather sleep lol. But my hatred of them clearly isn't as bad as yours. I hope the magnesium helps. Maybe a long, relaxing Epsom salt bath to really soak it in if this isn't enough? I'd love that right about now ;) I hope you get a comfortable night of sleep tonight!
