Had my anatomy scan yesterday, baby was absolutely perfect. But my placenta is partially covering my cervix and is anterior, I googled that, you shouldn't Google these things. Anyone else been told this? I have to have another ultrasound later to see if it's moved.

Me, at my 12 week scan. The ultrasound tech didn't even tell me but my doc thought she had, so doc casually dropped it in conversation. Needless to say, I was mad and a worried. But, 40/200 women get "diagnosed" with it, but only 1/200 actually have it at time of delivery. In other words, most placentas and will move as your uterus grows. When I called the nurse for the rest of my results, she told me it was unlikely to be a problem because I am asymptomatic and it is early. Still nervous though, because I googled too!

The diagnosis is very common at gender scans and most cases resolve themselves by the time you rescan. As your uterus grows it will push the placenta further up and away from the cervix. No need to worry about it. Complete placenta previas are the cases that usually stay blocked. And even in those cases some move enough out of the way to still have a vaginal delivery. There is a certain measurement away from the cervix (which may vary upon your doctor's experience or comfort level) in which practitioners will still allow a regular birth. P.S. never google lol

Yeah, Google has put visions of me bleeding to death in my head. Lol.

It did the same to me. In my case the technician said something about it. Didn't mention if it was complete or partial. To make things worse, I was not scheduled to see a dr that day so I had no real answers. So I googled away until I seen my midwife and she gave me all the details. I was amazed at how common placenta previa was. But in the short time frame of uncertainty all I remember thinking is im not having a c-sect, but my other option of bleeding to death doesn't look too good either. lol.

I don't see my doctor till Wednesday! So I have a week to wonder. :dohh:

Don't be worried yet. 98% of all low-lying placentas diagnosed in the second trimester resolve before delivery: https://www.jultrasoundmed.org/content/33/4/691.short
