Omar is not interested in finger food. He takes pieces of food with no problems, he can easily cut & chew food. But whever I offer him finger food, he takes one bite, & looses interest. He doesnt take any snacks. He takes 3 solids & 3 bottles & he can go upto 4 hrs with nothing. His hands control is good, & he can hold his sippy cup & bottle, he also spoon feed himself with a pre-loaded spoon. My cousin is 2 wks younger than Omar, & whenever he has any food in his hand, he won't let it go until he's done.

I'm not worried about his food intake, but I thought at 10 mnths, he should be interested in handling & eating food.

Anyone with a similar LO, as I think it's weird

I can't help as Bun only eats with his hands or a preloaded spoon, but we've done BLW so he doesn't know any different. Omar seems like a healthy and happy guy though (not to mention cute), so I doubt there's anything weird going on. xx

Megan doesnt even do preloaded spoons as she doesnt have the patience - her hands are quicker for her! She will only eat foods with her fingers right now & we did traditional weaning.

But - one of the daycare kids that I used to take care of didnt like finger foods. He was picky about textures and things he ate which was a different issue. He just didnt like getting his fingers dirty with the food. He didnt like touching it and if you tried to offer him anything he would lean forward with his mouth even if you were trying to put it in his hand. He eventually (very slowly & gradual!!!) got over it. He's 6 years old now - and of course will pick up and eat his own food. I wouldnt worry about it.

Sounds normal to me. My son barely ate solids until after a year. I spoon-fed him purees and such starting at 6 months - but finger food was not of much interest to him until about a year+.

It's like describing Omar :D He's exactly the same. He doesnt even hold anything without touching it 1st with his fingers then his palm. He's very picky with textures, & wont hold any slippery food. If his hands get dirty he goes crazy.

Thnks hun for ur reply. Omar loves his food, & he eats finger food with no problem, but he hates holding it & feeding himself, & he hides his hands & opens his mouth wanting me to feed him. xx
