I feel like he's being left behind. Most of my friends' babies have been rolling over for absolutely ages and sitting up by themselves. My son rolled over in November (front to back) and has probably only done it twice since. He can sit on his own for about 2 seconds, sometimes longer but then he just topples to the side. Should I be concerned? I hear lots of "lazy boy" comments so maybe I just have one of those x

DS1 didn't roll at all, just didn't have any interest in doing it I suppose. He reached other milestones at the supposedly right age. With the sitting up he was pretty good at 6 months, but that was because he'd always liked to be held upright even from birth

My 5mo is sitting up but has only rolled twice (front to back) and hasn't done it since. I wouldn't worry about it, all babies are different and in sure your LO will get there in his own time.

My lo can roll back to front but shows no sign of going the other way. He can sit up a bit - sometimes point blank refuses to and sometimes can last a minute or two. Overall tho he seems v unstable sat up still. Maybe we both have lazy boys!!

My LO first rolled less than a week before he turned 6 months. He's now 7 months and can just sit up. Compared to other babies of a similar age that we see, he's about average. Obviously, some are already more advanced, but there are plenty that still can't roll or sit, so I wouldn't worry at all.

My LO has been able to sit up unaided since about 4.5 months and can now sit up for extended periods. He can roll both ways but has only done that for the past couple of weeks and only a few times if that.

My other mummy friends with babies the same age none of their LO's can sit unaided at all and a few roll. I think this is the norm rather than the exception.

Each baby does things in their own time

Hey my LO has still never rolled, to be honest it looks like he never will! The past week or so he has managed to sit unaided. All babies are different, he'll sit/roll when he's ready :)

She rolls but only has for last 2 weeks and cant sit up herself for any longer than seconds. Lots of other babies of her age are crawling and standing up but in a selfish way im glad she isnt because i already need to watch her like a hawk just from the rolling!

Oh and i just remembered she is 7 months and not 6 haha!

Mine can sit but cant roll. I've never seen her roll and if u put her on her tummy she just lays there til she gets annoyed. They'll only do stuff when they want to do it.

I think he has a weight disadvantage. He's a real chubby little thing where my other friends' babies are much skinnier (apart from one and her little boy is a bigg'un like mine) so maybe this is slowing him down x

My LO is 5 1/2 months and hasnt rolled and cant sit up unaided... you read of other babies doing this and you cant help but compare your own LO development.

I got some good advice on here only last week... when your LO is at primary school who will care that LO was a few weeks behind in rolling etc.... IT WONT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE!

Plus once they start moving more they are harder to keep an eye on!!!

xxx

My LO has been sitting unaided since 4.5 months but only really started rolling around a lot from about 6.5 months. In the last few weeks she's started sitting herself up from tummy time, army crawling and now proper crawling. All the developments have been recently. Most of the 6 month olds in my baby group either cant sit unaided or are only just learning xx

My DD rolls like a crazy person but she won't even attempt to sit up. She makes no effort at all.

I agree with this!

My little chunka can barely lift her head up when doing tummy time and although she is only 4.5 months, she has no interest in rolling and just flops forward when sitting!

Mine has been rolling for months & sitting up for weeks, but I'm still always close because he can roll across the room in seconds & when he's sitting up, he lunges forward & it terrifies me. He has absolutely no sense of danger whatsoever. :nope:

I wouldn't rush it....life was easier when he was sitting contently in his bouncer.

Haha mine is the exact opposite of this. He's been sitting unaided for a couple weeks now but I think he'll be walking before he rolls. :p

And, OP, he's a chunky one, too...I definitely think it makes it harder for them. He'd have so much weight to throw over if he were to roll. Hard work!

My girl is only just 8 months and she's ONLY just started rolling to the left, she would only ever roll to the right before. She's only just started rolling from front to back too, and is just now more stable when sitting. She's kinda trying to crawl but not really close yet, she would much rather stand up with our support, which is cool with me.

I'm actually enjoying her not being mobile yet, I know it'll be the end of an era when she's finally getting around! She'll do it in her own time.

Dont worry at all, my little guy showed zero interest in doing anything but lying on his back until he was about 8 months maybe and then one day he just started rolling and once that happened he rolled everywere for a few weeks then progressed to crawling and is now pulling himself up on everything and is in and out of my presses and I swear I cannot watch him enough. Not sure when he will progress to walking though will probably be another few months!!

He will do it when he is good and ready and then the fun really starts as you really dont get a minute :haha:

DD1 rolled back to front at 3 months but not the other way until 7 months when she started crawling. She was sitting well at around 5 months.

DD2 is a bit younger than yours, has only just learnt to roll in the last week or so and is nowhere near able to sit up.
