My DS will be 4 months old in 4 days. He has become a pro at rolling from his back to his front, but once he is on his tummy he HATES it and has no idea how to roll back. He just screams until you flip him and then does it again. He hates tummy time. I give it to him as much as possible in the day in little spurts he can tolerate.

Do I have to stop swaddling since he rolls back to front even though he has never tried this in his sleep?

My LO is 16 months now, but she rolled front to back at 3 months, and didn't learn to roll the other way until at least a month later. It's totally normal. He'll get it soon, and hopefully that will stop him getting upset!

Personally I WOULD stop swaddling at this point, but if he isn't consistently rolling in his sleep, it's totally your choice. If/when he does though it's probably best not to swaddle him any more, just in case. Instead, maybe you could pop him in a baby sleeping bag, which is still cosy and enclosed but not as restrictive. :)

My DS was rolling back to front at least a month and a half before he rolled front to back it will come in time.
I would personally stop swaddling at this point or wrap with arms out at least but if he isn't doing it in his sleep its up to you, we never had to make that decision as DS hated being swaddled right from birth.

DD was rolling front to back but since she's learned how to roll onto her belly she seems to have forgotten how to go the other way :). So she gets stuck on her tummy and starts to cry.

Sort of. Felix has been rolling randomly from front to back since 10 weeks but he doesn't do it very often at all. He seems more interested in trying to grab things when he's doing tummy time. He's nearly four months now and isn't quite there with rolling back to front but rolls on to his side and does this way more readily. I guess there is much less frustration on their backs so they can explore movement without stress?

DS2 started rolling from back to front when he was about 4 months old, he learnt to roll from front to back around the same time but wouldn't do it because he hated being on his tummy. He's 8 months now and still hates tummy time, he's extremely close to crawling but wont stay on his tummy fir more than 30 seconds to do it. Instead he either sits up and shuffles on his bum or insists on standing up and walking round holding on to my hands.

I'd personally stop swaddling him but neither of mine would ever tolerate being swaddled so its not something I'm too sure on.
