Hey all. I went to the infertility specialist yesterday & he put me on a 'plan' to help me conceive; He calls it the "Clomiphene Citrate Challenge Test." I still take my Metformin 3 times a day. I start taking the Provera to help me get my period, & then on Cycle Day 1, I call them to set up an appointment to get an ultrasound done to check the follicles on my ovaries. On day 3, I go to CompuNet to get blood work done. On Day 5, I start taking the Clomid twice a day, & stop it on Day 9. On Day 12or13, I go back for another ultrasound on my follicles. On Day 13, I use the Ovidrel injection & have sex (I think) exactly 36 hours after the injection. (I have to call & double check the time to make sure)

Has anybody had any luck with any of these? My doctor has high hopes for me, & I'm hoping I am not getting too far ahead of myself. I tend to get super excited about any chance of conceiving, & getting BFN's & having had 3 previous miscarriages.. It just gets harder. I'm really, really hoping someone out there has any advice for me; I would really appreciate it. I feel alone, because none of my friends nor anyone in my family has gone through this, & it just makes it even more unbearable.. :nope:

Hi

Theres a Clomid Club and PCOS club in the Long Term TTC forum. Theres lots of cross over so maybe some support for you there :)

I have PCOS but get periods fairly regularly so no need for Provera, I am on my 2nd cycle of Clomid tho and being monitored this month so hopefully theyll jab me with something extra to make me ovulate this month - didnt quite get there last month.

GL!

I just want to say "KEEP THAT POSITIVE THINKING GOING"!!!! It makes all the difference in the world.

I am on a different cocktail of medication then you ... but they are primarily the same drugs. I pray it works for you ... but just know there are always other plans out there to get pregnant.

My husband and I tried to conceive our daughter for almost 7 years, it seemed like an eternity. When we almost decided to give up, we switched fertility doctors. He sat us down and gave us a plan (much like your doctor is doing!! ) Within 3 cycles we were PREGNANT!! It took tweeking medication, timing etc but he got it right on!

Wishing you all the best! Chin up ... and always look forward never down.:hugs:

That sounds like the typical first line of defense for PCOS patients (like me!). If that doesnt work (which I hope it will for your!!) you will most likely move on to some combination of injectibles and IUI. It gets tricky with us PCOS-ers because we OVER respond to the medication and produce enormous amounts of follicles! I am suffering moderate OHSS right now as a result of being a PCOS patient on injectibles.

Best of luck with your plan, it sounds right on target!
