I am 34 weeks and fell down my basement stairs. The good news is that I came down hard on my back so baby is OK. The think it's just muscular even though i didn't have any xrays done. I am in severe pain. The tiniest movements literally leave me screaming and crying... except for sitting, if I just sit and don't twist I am ok and can use my arms. I can't use my arms while standing though. Anyway, I am really worried that I might not heal in time if I have an early labor. It's been 4 days and even with pain pills I still can't get up or down by myself (from lying to sitting or sitting to standing) and I can barely walk and can't rollover once I am laying down. It could be weeks before I heal. Has anyone ever been in this situation during labor? Would it ruin my chances of having a vaginal delivery? I planned on a drug free birth but I have accepted that if I am not healed that probably won't be possible since it hurts so bad, but I am really hoping to avoid a c-section.

I am also worried that I did do something to my spine but it was undetected due to no xrays, would it be dangerous to go into labor not knowing for sure if I had a small chip or fracture in there somewhere?

Hopefully it will have settled down in a few weeks you poor thing! I've had sciatica which flaired up and down duringy last pregnancy but not a specific injury like you. See how you feel in a few weeks time!

Not quite the same but I have a condition which affects my joints and my back was quite sore from it when I had my first LO. Displaced coxyx and my spine was out of line. I had a vaginal delivery. I had to deliver on my back due to LO needing constant monitoring and that did make my back pretty sore, but I had gas and air for some of it and that helped. I would really recommend finding a good position not on your back. Or even better water- amazing for a sore back in labour :).

Hey. Just wanted to pass on my get well thoughts.
Don't want to scare you as it is probably just muscular damage but I broke my back in 2 places when I fell down the stairs. I wasn't pregnant so able to have scans but I know how difficult it can be to recover. Just take your time and follow your instincts and you'll be fine
Big hugs x
