Or has everyone switched from breastfeeding?

My baby is only 3 days old but breastfeeding is making me an emotional wreck and as much as I feel bad for it I think I'm going to have to switch. I know it's early and not advised but has anyone else done this?

It is entirely your decision- I know that in the BFing section you would get a lot of ladies who could help and support you if you wanted to continue, and you have come this far. However, I have FF'd both my boys from birth and have absolutely no regrets, and 2 very healthy boys, and a happy mum.

You need to do whatever is right for your family. I would probably talk to one of the BF Peer Support ladies over in the BF section first, as it's a major decision that is hard to reverse. Good luck hun and I'm always here for any FF advice. :hugs:

Loads of people FF from birth. If that is what you want to do then go ahead, it is entirely your choice.

However, it may not be BF making you an emotional wreck. Most of us are emotional wrecks three days after the birth. It's classic baby blues time and it's normal to feel very teary and emotional. Perhaps post on the BF section about what the specific problems you are having are, see what advice you get, and if you still want to switch in a few days time then go ahead.

At the end of the day it is up to you.

I ff my first from day one due to having breast surgery planned two weeks after his birth and was advised to try to dry things up before hand.

With my second I tried but had too much scar tissue. I tried for a week. I tried this time and had the same problem, if not worse, worsening made it almost 12 days. I will admitted it has made things easier in regards to caring for my older two but it's still hard to come to terms with not bf due to my breast just being totally mutilated (how I feel anyways).

Whatever decision you make, know it's made with love for your LO and you should not feel guilty about it at all. :hugs:

I tried bf twice. Doctor advised against as im underweight from being so sick during pregnancy.
So what you need to do, no one else can make the choice for you though
Nor do they have the right to judge your choice :)

I formula fed from birth, didnt breast feed once :)

I decided during pregnancy that i wasnt comfortable with breast feeding ( please dont judge its just not for me! I dont have any problems with others doing it!) So even in hospital i bottle fed little man! :)
Also i spoke to my midwife about it and she said if i wasnt sure then it would probably be better if i didnt do it cos its better to have a happy and comfortable mum bottle feeding than an unhappy and uncomfortable mum whos trying to breastfeed! :)

Like a previous post said it might not be the breastfeding making you emotional, your hormones are whizzing around!
I have bf my baby girl from birth and it did get much easier with time but you must do what is right for you in your situation, it's much better to have a happy mum ff than an upset mum breastfeding.

And finally congratulations on your LO, x

yep, i can relate to this. i had no interest in breast feeding, i wanted my body back to myself as soon as possible. my son is almost 16 months ol and is completely healthy and happy.

I only BF for the first 24hrs. I had such a traumatic birth I just didnt have the energy and needed my partners help. Must admit sterlising and making fresh bottles constantly is also an effort though!
