Anyone from NSW, Australia?

Quick question, is it true we are not allowed to leave the hospital without an approved baby capsule?? :S

What do you mean?? I haven't had a baby in 4 years but last time I checked they didn't come out and inspect your car seat

Me. I've no idea. My last NSW baby, they never checked. Maybe RTA would know. If you're leaving in a car, why wouldn't you have one ?

I am leaving in a car, but instead of a capsule, we've bought a 0-4 years car seat - you know the one you can change around once baby is a little bigger and it tips back for newborns. Then a family friend told me that I needed an actual capsule that is approved by the hospital before they'll let me leave :s
I think I read it somewhere too on a pamphlet though I am not 100% sure.

I'd think a 0-4 car seat is fine ! I've only ever had 1 baby in an actual capsule, the rest were in car seats like that.

you don't need a capsule, just a car seat for a newborn. We have a 0-4 car seat, totally fine BUT apparently they MUST be fitted professionally these days- the cops can even pull you over to check (i would hope they had better things to do!!) and you need to show the receipt for getting it done...!

Cost like $40 to do!

Any Australian approved car seat is ok , where abouts in nsw is everyone from ?? What hospital are you all having your baby at ???

Yeah, you don't need a capsule. I'm having my baby at Norwest btw (had my last there, they were great)

Really ? Things have changed since my last NSW baby ! Where do you go for that ?

My hubby fit dd1 car seat & will fit this one too, he is not an approved car seat installer but he is a mechanic & does it all the time for customers too !

There's several
Authorized places inc toys r us and there's a place at the hospital that does it too

I've never heard of that I installed my own car seat and have no intentions of taking it out and getting someone else to do it

Thanks my aussie ladies . Ok well phewf.. my family friend scared me she said it right after we bought the car seat and I was like ... really ?? So I thought I'd ask on here.
Guess she was wrong!

I'm from Sydney, and Taylah, I love Balmain So many nice places to eat. Love the pizza there and that little Seafood shop. I use to go there to eat fish all the time but rarely go there now because my ex use to live there and that's why I went.
I use to go to Leichhardt Highschool aswell and reside innerwest, now I'm south.
I'm due December 14th and will be having bub at St George Hospital...I'll be 37 weeks this Friday!! So I'm trying to stay prepared!

Oh by the way, Baby Warehouse also installs carseats they also told me it cost about $40
