Hi all, i have the movement sensor monitor and i would like a bit of advice really. I was bought one as a present and always used the sensor mat, but one day i forgot to switch it on and i noticed the sound kept cutting out?? It was fine when the mat is switched on but i was worried about what would happen when i had to stop using the mat (when she is moving around too much and we start having false alarms) so i took it back and got another, but the new one is doing the same thing!! Do any of you have the same problem? Is this normal? I dont like the idea of me not being able to hear her but i dont want to take it back if i am doing something wrong iykwim. Any advice much appreciated :flower:

We have the same one. Do you mean the alarm sound? We stopped using the alarm a few months ago when LO started moving all over her cot, but we still use the mat so we can still see her breathing on the monitor.

But we noticed a few times when the alarm went off somtimes it would go off for a few mins, and others it would just make a sudden noise then stop but i'm not sure why.

When the pad is turned off so it is supposed to just transmit any noise she makes. When we dont have the pad on the sound comes through for a minute but then cuts out. Can you put the pad on but switch off the alarm? I know you can stop that ticking sound but at some point the monitor is going to be useless if we switch the pad off but cant even hear her over monitor because it cuts out.

I'm not sure if the monitor works with the pad switched off as we haven't tried it. We've always had the pad plugged in & on but the alarm switched off when she started moving around her cot. Maybe try leaving the mat on but the alarm to the off setting and it should work fine? x

I don't even have the sensor plugged into the main thing and still use it as a baby monitor it's fine for me I occasionally have interference - mobiles, phones and sometimes wireless Internet does that - when it happens does it kind of sound like a dial up tone? Other wise if sound completely disappears maybe try to see if a noise made in the room still comes through the monitor - as I got paranoid last night as I couldn't hear the static but when LO started to make noise it suddenly was fine

The pad is plugged in but the sound on my handset disappears when the switch on the top right of the monitor in her room is switched off. I think im going to have to take it back, i just didnt want to take another back in case im doing something wrong and i will feel like a complete fool!

I put her musical mobile on in the day so i can hear it completely cut out, no sound at all after about a minute. The only way to activate the sound again from downstairs is to remotely switch the nightlight on, then randomly the sound comes back for a minute, then disappears again! So annoying, and its going to be useless when she starts moving round more. I just dont understand why this has happened on a second handset.

it sounds like you have another faulty one to me. iv switched the mat off a few times when LO has been moving around a lot and the mat isnt in the right place to pick it up (like when we came back from holiday) and the monitor didn't cut off, just worked as a normal monitor

Thanks. I will have to take it back i just dont really like complaining, especially for a second time! Thanks everyone for your input

I've just noticed the same thing happening with mine. Always used it with the sensor pad at home and its fine, but we've been away for a couple of nights so can't use the pad as he's in the travel cot. So lucky lo hasn't cried as I'd never have heard him. Having to press the night light every couple of minutes to get it to work for a few seconds.

Rubbish isnt it. Its obviously an ongoing problem, not worth the money. We took the second one back and replaced with the angel care one with sensor mat. Its 10x better imo. The only thing this one doesnt do that the tt one did that i liked, is display the temp in LO room, its only on my handset. Also, the sound is not on all of the time, it is sound activated which was a little disconcerting at first but im used to it now! The angel care also has a minimum and optimum temp setting, so if it reaches the temp you set it at an alarm sounds to let you know if its too hot or cold, great for me because the boiler is in her room and with all of this cold weather i was a little paranoid having the heating come on in the night incase she cooked! Can you change yours? :flower:

I need to see if i can change it to the angelcare one, don't fancy trying another TT one after seeing you got another faulty one!
Not sure if i still have the receipt, got it in mothercare in august and have used it with the mat without any problems since october. Not sure if mothercare will change it after all this time?

Ours does exactly the same thing, sometimes long, sometimes it goes off then the sound just cuts off. I thought it was faulty I expected I dropped it or something! Interesting to see its not just mine. Worrying when u rely on it for reassurance..

I didnt have a receipt either, i put it in the wash by accident! Sounded like a likely story when i tried to explain, ha! I was dealing with argos though, they were great about it - its not like you cant prove how long you have been using it with a baby in your arms! I remember a while back someone posted about mothercare being rubbish about a return and telling them to get in touch with the supplier themselves as they would not do it. Dont be fobbed off like that, it is easier for them to sort it out than you. Suppliers dont like dealing with the general public, they dont want the hassle. If you bought it in a shop it should be part of their customer service to help you out, i bet by the sound of it this kind of complaint happens all the time. Good luck let me know how it goes

btw, when i changed mine i told them it was purchased in april but not used til sept and they were fine about it. Your manufacturer guarantee is 12 months regardless of what the shop says so dont take no for an answer! :nope:

I know this is an old thread now but I thought I should let you know the sound isn't cutting out it is just saving power and is activated by sound! I thought the same thing but soon realised as soon as my LO made a noise sure enough the sound came back on. It's only recently we have started using the pad now she sleeps in her own room and I have noticed that the sound is always on... I was actually looking for a way to switch it back to being noise activated! I'm guessing this feature is only available when the pad isn't plugged in which is a shame.

Tommee Tippee should make this clearer in their instructions as it looks like serval people have returned non faulty monitors.

I just unplug the mat and the monitor works fine then. Only do this in the day though, at night I still use the mat. Xx

I no this is a old topic but I found it via google

I have this monitor and have just put my 5 month old to bed by him self and have the handset withme and there is a constatnt noise from his heart beat is there a way to turn this off? Without removing the mat as the noise from the main unit will come through the monitoe anyway?
