My first was breech and i had a planned c section at 39 weeks which went very smoothly and i recovered well. I have just had a consultant appointment at the hospital saying i can chose another csection or have a vbac its up to me i have to decide by the time i'm 36 weeks. I'm leaning towards a csection again as i know what to expect and can plan care for my daughter, but part of me wants to experience a natural birth but my daughter was 9lb 6 and i'm worried this one could be bigger and i would struggle, doctor wasnt concerned she said i'm tall i could easily give birth to a big baby! Has anyone else chosen another c section even though they could have had a vbac? Thanks

Hi,

I also had a c section with my daughter at 39 weeks due to her being breech. I am now 30 weeks pregnant again with a boy and have chosen to have another section. I found my section a lovely experience with no problems. Before having my daughter, I lost two babies and experienced labour with those and it was very painful and not an experience I'd choose to repeat. I know they say you can pick between section or vbac but really you are choosing between organised and disorganised, predicable and unpredictable, a section or anything can happen! That is how I see it anyway :-) xxx

My SIL had a beech baby and ended up having a EMCS. Second time round she was given a choice and went for VBAC which went fine. She did need epidural for pain relief. GL

i chose 2 sections hun. my first healing was a breeze. second was a little rougher pain wise but by 12days post section i was literally running around (Emergency with baby) and it didnt do any damage

I had a planned c-section the first time for placenta previa, and I opted for another c-section with my son, 17 months after my first child was born. It was a good thing that I didn't try for a VBAC, because my uterus ended up having windows, and being dangerously thin, and the contractions could have caused me to rupture. The recovery to my second c-section was significantly easier than my first c-section...I was up and moving within a few hours the second time around, and my pain was far less than the first time, for whatever reason.

I was induced with my first at 41+2 and gave birth to her the next day. WORST experience of my life. My 2nd was breech and I had a c-s. It was great! If I were to have a 3rd, I would definitely opt for another c-s.

Yes. My third baby was breech and section and just had another section 5 weeks ago for my fourth. I already experienced 2 long vaginal births before though so wasn't fussed about experiencing another esp after a previous section.

I've had 2 c-sections but I'm hoping to try for vbac this time around. My sections went okay both times but the risks of such a major surgery should be taken into consideration. Recovery is longer, complications are more common for both mom and baby, the hospital stay is longer, bonding time with baby is delayed. Personally I feel like c-sections are made out to be so normal and easy but some people forget it's much riskier than a natural birth. The labor, the pain, the long hours of contractions...it might not be pleasant but it's not meant to be. However, in the end it's the safest and most natural way to bring your little babe into the world. I would give anything to be able to do it. I'm truly hoping this 3rd baby can come naturally.

I had a section with my first due to him being breech. Recovery was fine, no problems.
This time I have been offered a vbac or section but think we are leaning towards a second section. The numbers for a successful vbac just don't add up for me.
Although we may have the decision taken out of our hours as this baby has been breech at our 20 week scan and the private scan we paid for at 23 weeks!
