Anyone had an US Pelvic Exam?

Hi girls,

Following on from my FS appointment at the hospital last week I received a letter asking me to come in for an Ultra Sound Pelvic Exam. No idea what I should expect from this ? and what will it be able to tell me ? Bit nervous as this will be the first proper test for me before the Lap & Dye appointments come through. Has anyone had one and what was the outcome ?

Also had some great news that someone close to me is pregnant (and guess what it was a complete accident and weren't even trying............arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh) , I am so happy for her but spent the whole day crying and soooo upset as I can't help thinking why can't it be us .... feeling really down right now again just after I was feeling so positive after having my hospital appointment last week. This TTC thing is such a rollercoster of emotions.

I've had countless pelvic u/s's. A few for investigative purposes and loads for my IVF cycles. It is an internal scan, but it doesn't hurt, just mostly a little uncomfortable.

Where I go, I ask to insert the prob myself so that it feels a little less invasive!

It is mainly to check your uterus, ovaries, they will do measurements and check for any abnormalities such as cysts, shape of uterus etc.

Sorry to hear about you finding out about a pregnancy...it is never easy, especially when it was an accident. Hope you feel better soon

Yes, it's usually an internal exam, looks for things like cysts on ovaries. Uncomfortable a little but nothing too bad, honest!

I think getting a pap is more uncomfortable the US. They're not bad at all.

Got my scan today very nervous about it.

Can anyone tell me if they will tell me the results there and then or do I have to go back for them ???

Also will my DH be able to come in with me as he wants to come in with me??
