Anyone had any luck with ear thermometers taking BBT?

While I was in hospital, they used this ear thermometer on me, it does the reading in a couple of seconds, truly fab.
I was wondering, has anyone tried these for basal temps?
It would be a lot easier than waiting around for my cranky old digi to beep!
