:flower:Hi there lovely ladies.:flower:

Hope everyone is doing well :winkwink:. I have a operation on wednesday next week, and i'm getting abit nervous...:sad1: I think its called Colposcopy Laser Treatment, but don't hold me to that name, as i'm not sure. All i know is that i'm going under a general for day surgery in which they will laser off any "bobbles" on my cervix, as i have been getting abnormal bleeding during or after :sex: (although just lately i haven't), I had an smear done the other month which came back clear :happydance:, also had a PCOS scan done which also came back clear :happydance:. I just want to know if anyone has had this treatment or has experienced this before.

Thanks

Chello

*** Sorry its Cauterization Treatment that i'm having done ***

Hi Chello!

First of all, trust me when I say that the procedure is SO SO common and nothing to worry about at all. About 12 months ago I had an abnormal smear, which meant I had to go and have a Colposcopy test to further investigate. I was so nervous and was imagining all kinds of things including worrying about whether I would not be able to get pregnant as a result - so silly of me!

I did not have the procedure following the Colposcopy (where they take a little snip from the cervix), as my abnormal cells went away on their own, but my best friend has had it, and I went with her. There is nothing to it, you will be in there less than 15 mins probably and will just need to wear a sanitary towel afterwards.

It very important to have these procedures done if you are trying to conceive as you dont want any little 'nasties' affecting your unborn baby - best to get rid!

One thing I would say is that - you say you have recently had a 'clear' smear done? This would indicate that the cells have possibly gone away on their own as mine did (and as can happen in lots of cases), and I dont know whether it is 100% necessary for you to have the procedure done? Especially as your symptoms have stopped to? (bleeding after intercourse). If you're psyched up for it now, and just want it out of the way then it wont do you any harm to go ahead. Better to be safe I reckon.

Good luck, hope all goes well,
xxx

I'm a little confused. I've had the colposcopy along with the biopsy where they snip from the cervix. Just done this week for the 5th time actually. Doctor said keep TTC as it shouldn't affect anything. If you're in your 20s the abnormal cells go away on their own.

But your second post about the cauterization treatment sounds like something else completely. Your abnormal cell test came back clear so it wouldn't be for that, it's just for the bumps that are irritated every time you DTD right? Cause that would be completely different than a colposcopy and sorry but I don't know anything about that treatment.

Thanks Ladies! I rang back the hospital and its Cauterization of the Cervix that im having done (got the two muddled). I went to the docs because i was having bleeding during and after sex which also made me "come on" sometimes if it was near my day, So they done a smear which came back normal, then had a PCOS internal scan which was clear too, so the family clinic suggested to have this done, as sometimes we have a little bloody bobbles on our cervix which some women dont suffer from but typical me i do!! And as you can imagine TTC when this happens isnt exactly a turn on!! My partener has been fab though bless im, also on wed when i have my thing done his going to have his swimmers tested!! All this TTC can be so hard but in my head im just thinking, get all this out the way then the fertility clinic will have less to investigate.

Thanks again

I had LEEP (loop electrosurgical excision procedure) cauterization done almost a month ago for abnormal cellular changes, but I'm sure the treatment doesn't differ much whether it's being done for dysplasia or for bobbles. In my case, they numbed up the cervix real good with lidocaine, and then from there, they used a thin loop of wire with an electrical current running through it to excise a layer off of my outer cervix. It didn't hurt at all. I'm not sure if anything will even need to be excised in your case or if your doctor just plans on cauterizing each "bobble." Some women experience cramps after the procedure, but I didn't have any. As far as TTC, my doctor told me to wait a few cycles before going ahead with our plans, but it might be different if you're not actually having anything excised. Anyway, I hope cauterization will help you and that the stork will be on his way to you soon:) Good luck!

Hiya kcmb0886. What you had done was what they was going to do. I got to the hospital wednesday morning at 7am, done a lot of waiting around.. Then 7 hours of hanging around they took me to theater and checked my cervix to then decide that they wasnt going to continue!! I was so peed off!! The consaultant could have checked when i had a meeting with her at 9 o'clock that morning! Never mind, i guess its nice to know that everything is perfect and that the surgery wouldnt delay us trying..

Thanks ladies for the replies.
