what does it involve?

I'm concerned that my cycles are shortening and Im ovulating too early at the mo - were NTNP at the mo after 2 mmc (need a break) but am still monitoring my cycles as I have pcos and after our last bfp our fertility clinic took us off the books (guess we'd given their stats a boost!) so I'm monitoring to see if we would need re-referring or can have a spell of ttc without fs help

am a bit worried that that my eggs are of poor quality anyway after 2 mmc and Im thinking my FSH levels may have altered

anyone had / having similar experiences?

Thanks! :flower:

I worry about the same thing. Im looking into having a AMH test as its more reliable for egg reserve assessment than FSH which apparently can go up and down. I also have to go private as don't qualify for NHS as over 38yo (cut off in my area). The NHS led private clinic states 50 pounds for an AMH test - that i can afford, i think :)

Good luck and sorry i don't have anything else concrete to add....

:hugs: Omi xxx

Thanks Omi thats really good to know - I may look into it - I think I'll see what my next cycle is like and then think about getting re-referred if its another short cycle and early ov - I know what to ask for now :)

as much as Im enjoying ntnp Im also aware of the ever ticking clock :dohh:

You might want consider testing your thyroid as well (TSH)..... I found out I have hypothyroidism and started on Sythroid....it has lengthened my cycles by a couple days and also lengthened my luteal phase....

I also found out I have a super low AMH, but that's a different story... :dohh:

thanks nancat :) did your gp test for TSH or a fertility clinic?

who knew it would all be so complicated! My friends who just fall pg at the drop of a hat know so little about fertility but then I suppose they havent had to know it they just have it!

fingers crossed you get lucky soon x

I just took the FSH test you can do at home. Obviously it's not as detailed or accurate as the tests a doctor is going to perform. But it did set my mind at ease...until I get to see the doctor at the end of this month.

Hi Rowan! Thanks so much for the fx. I know what you mean...I never ever thought it would be this hard or stressful, peeing on sticks regularly, counting days every single month!

I got the TSH test done at my regular OBGYN office, at the request of my last fertililty specialist, and had it sent over to them. The reason I didn't just do it at the specialist is because my insurance doesn't cover anything that's done at a fertility clinic. So I'm pretty sure you could ask your obgyn to test it. Do you also see a specialist?

I am sending positive thoughts your way!!!

i had tests done last yr for 1st 3 mths i had blood test then bloods and scans done to see wat was happenin fact im nearly 42 they needed to see if my egg quality was good only 3 out of 5 would of been viable due to my age they say i had mine done on nhs due 2 reaccurrin mc

thanks princess julia - sorry for your losses hon x

did they advise anything to increase the quality of your eggs? my consultant hasnt done anything other than the usual CD3 and CD 21 bloods over a year ago but said at over 35 6 out of 10 eggs arent viable and with having pcos that increases to 9 out of 10 - but then didnt follow it up really?

we were attending a fertility clinic but after our second bfp (after clomid) they took us off the books so we'd need re-referring

I too am hypothyroid and found out after having tests after 2 mc's. However, testing the thyroid is not necessarily a fertility thing, although in this case you obviously want to rule it out - reason im saying that is that its a very simple blood test and your GP/Dr would be able to perform it for you.

I was gonna suggest DHEA for egg quality but if you have PCOS that wouldn't be right for you. Hpw about soy isoflavones? Many on here use it and it works as a natural clomid ( I cant take due to the thyroid but maybe you can..?) Just google it, hun.

All the best and good luck :dust:

Hi, I'm back, AF came yesterday, which means that my cycle is a little shorter again this month (22 days) and my LP is only 10-11 days. So although it seemed that the significant lengthening of both my cycle and LP for three months corresponded perfectly with when I started taking Synthroid, I guess it was just a fluke. Bummer. But I still agree with Omi---it's a good thing to get checked out. Thyroid levels can affect many things and is a simple test to get done.

I think I'll see when / if I ov next cycle then and ask my gp re thyroid tests -thanks ladies :) sure my gp already thinks im a hypochondriac tho :haha:

will have a google re soy and I think Ill order another FSH poas test as well

fingers crossed your next cycle is longer hon :flower:

I have not had an egg quality test but that is on my list!
Re supplements for egg quality - COQ10 and Royal Jelly are supposed to help. Someone posted about Melatonin as well for egg quality.
CW

I would be very wary of melatonin, it interferes with LH and FSH hormone levels. I was told 2 out of 5 of my eggs, i.e. 40% are normal at my age, nearly 42. That was the private fertility consultant. So I am being realistic and assuming I only produce one normal egg every 3 cycles. I've decided in the end it's a lottery like most things in life.

hiya!
the test for egg quality and reserves is the Anti Mullerian Hormone blood test (AMH) i had mine taken yesterday, i'm 36, so i'll update you all when the results come in. Its more reliable than the day 3 and day 23 bloods as it directly pinpoints the viability of your eggs and whether you are a suitable candidate for IUI or IVF. It also shows if docs should move quickly to assisted reproduction rather than leaving it to au naturelle!:flower:

thanks ladies :)

redclaire are you getting your AMH test through a fertility clinic?

hmm been reading up on the amh test and it may not be quite so helpful with pcos as my reading would probs be high but due to the pcos not a good stash of eggs

anyone else have pcos?

thanks ladies :)
