Hi,
I was exactly the same as you but with homebirth as an option too!! I ended up being high risk and had my little boy at LGI. I was very 'anti-hospital' but I have nothing but praise for all the staff at LGI. They were amazing. I didn't get a choice as to where I had him in the end, but have to admit that Jimmy's looked nicer, and the wards were nicer (some parts of Clarendon Wing are a bit tatty and tired looking)
You can't have a water birth at Jimmy's, so that's something to consider. Why not arrange a look around both delivery suites? When we went to look rounf LGI delivery suites at Parentcraft lessons I didn't like the high risk rooms (very clinical) but at the time of delivery you really don't give a stuff what the wallpaper is like in the room, as you're concentrating on other things!! Plus, Alexander struggled to breathe when first born so I was very glad for all the scary looking machines!!
Hope this helps, feel free to ask further questions;
P.S Post-natal ward in LGI (ward 57) was fantastic-lovely m/w's who helped with anything, and answered all my questions no matter how daft they were, and showed me how to change Alexanders 1st nappy (I didn't have a clue) Breast feeding support was great too.
