So my 3rd iui failed in June. I have been asked to go for an hsg. But whatever the results, I'm contemplating whether to go directly for ivf or try a few more cycles of iui. My 3 iui cycles were perfectly timed with good follie size etc. So I doubt if more cycles would really work for me. Any input would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I'm just getting ready to do my 3rd IUI. I'm sort of surprised a doctor would let you do an IUI without having an HSG first. Most docs won't even let you take clomid without an HSG....

Thanks popchick for your reply. Well this would be my second HSG. My first one was in February'12 when I was diagnosed with bilaterally blocked tubes. Thereafter I went through lap in April'12 when my tubes were successfully unblocked. But my endometrium biopsy report during lap showed the presence of a bacteria(mycobacterium tuberculosis) in the uterus that supposedly caused the tubes blockages and infection of the uterus. I was put on medicine for six months, that is, from May through November'12 to remove the bacteria. Thereafter I again went through 4 cycles of hydrotubation to keep my tubes clear. I went through iui in March, April and May. Since I have had tubal issues before, therefore my doc has suggested to go for a HSG again. But my tubes were open till February this year(basing on hydrotubation report), if my HSG report finds blockage again I don't know how that would happen. Do keep me posted on your 3rd iui. I hope it works out for you :)

Wow! That's definitely a lot to go through! I've had 3 hsg's.....not a lot of fun!

Did you do injectibles or clomid for your IUIs?

3 HSGs? wow that's not fun at all. I did both clomid and injectibles for iui. Did clomid fromday 3-7 but the number of shots varied in each cycle since I don't have problems ovulating. I never wanted to go for ivf but now I'm kind of mentally prepared for it. What's your plan if IUI doesn't work?

I think this is the end of the road for us. We've already done IVF and several IUIs. I was always 'unknown infertility' up until about a few months ago when they finally figured out I had elevated NK Cells, which is probably why the IVF and IUIs didn't work. I'm doing intralipid infusions this time, which is about the only thing that can be done at this point.

10 years of trying is enough. If this doesn't work it is time to call it a day :)

I am sorry to learn that you have been at it for 10 long years. I have been struggling for 2.6 years now and already feel like giving up. I'm afraid I don't know much about nk cells though. But I'll still hope that you do get that bfp soon. As for me, I've a high-up cervix(diagnosed during lap) which makes it difficult to conceive naturally since sperm doesnt even reach the uterus :( Though my FS didn't rule out natural conception, but said it might take years. That is why we went the iui route. Our insurance doesn't cover ivf and we will have to pay through our nose for it. There are times when I just feel like my body is immune to pregnancy, never having seen a bfp even once in all these years. Don't know if I'll ever get to hold that little bundle of joy in my arms:cry: Sorry for the ramblings hun. I know nothing comforts lttc-ers like us but I still hope the best for you. You deserve it.
