Hi ladies. I'm popping in from 3rd trimester, terrified. Been in and out of hospital for preterm labor, received steriod injections and now I'm on bedrest waiting. I have constant contractions and feel like its only a matter of time before I go into labor early. My question is, anyone have any experience with a 33 weeker? I'm terrified :( any advice would be appreciated.

33 weeks is a great gestation. Babies can start bottle feeding at 34 weeks, so for us who have had even smaller babies, 33 weeks is practically full term! I had a 26 weeker and he has done phenomenal with no problems (except prematurity, obviously). He is 33 weeks gestation today and doing great. Keep that baby cooking, but also rest assured knowing that if you do have your baby soon, you're looking at a 4 pounder who is only 3-4 weeks shy of full term.

My third was a 33 weeker, she weighed 4lb 12oz and only did 10 days in NICU. She did have to be ventilated briefly but was off that within the first day and likely that was from it being a c section delivery. Aside from that it was mainly learning to eat (actually took to it really fast) and some jaundice. She's a very healthy soon to be 4 year old now.:hugs:

Thank u so much ladies, you really reassured me. The NICU team that met with us while I was in hospital were not concerned at all about a 33 weeker but having had my daughter at 38 weeks weighing 8.4 pounds, the concept of a preemie is very new to me and scary as well. Here's hoping baby can stay in a bit longer though xx

my baby was a 32+2 weeker, he weighed 5lb 8oz and has breathed on his own from the start (I thank the steroid injections) .. our only issue has been feeding, he is almost 7weeks old now and still in hospital being tube fed, only the last day or two he has been taking some bottles without desats.. every baby hits its different obstacles and progresses at its own pace but a 33 weeker really isn't a major health worry, and ive been told my little man will catch up very quickly when he finally gets it, so don't stress out too much xxx

My twins were 33 weekers. They were 4lb 6oz and 4lb 8oz, had no medical issues, no breathing issues... just had to spend a few weeks in the NICU learning to eat and growing. Perfect tiny little babies :)

My son was born at 32 weeks and had no problems, they put him on caffeine just to be safe but apart from that all he had to stay in for was getting him to feed rather than tube feed.
He is now a happy and healthy 20 month old  hes running round like a nutter most of the time although it can be scary at the time i know quite a few preemies that are fine and had no problems.
Hope everything goes well for you hun x

How you getting on? 33 weeks is scary, any time in NNICU is, but the odds are definitely on your side. Hopefully she is still in there cooking! Just remember to take the journey one day at a time.

Hi girls. You have all been godsent. Thank you for your reassurance. Thankfully I'm still pregnant albeit battling constant contractions and on bedrest for the past 3 weeks. As of Tuesday I'll be 36 weeks so I'm happy to have made it this far although it hasn't been easy at all. I hope you are all doing well with your adorable bundles xx

Oh, that's great Laila! You're full term in a week, so it's unlikely you'll spend any time in the NICU. :) Congrats!

Thank u so much sunny luv. I hope baby is healthy that's All that matters! How is your little one?

Hey Laila.....justbthoughtbi would post as I am in the same position as you, have been given steroids to mature my babas lungs and and been in and out of hospital a few times over the past few weeks with what seemed like my "show" and some bleeding but baba is still holding on and hasn't appeared as yet although they are expecting that I could go into established labour at any point! On complete bed rest and contracting all day and night!! I am just 33 weeks yesterday so am obviously worried about having the baba early but I am also taking comfort from the lovely girls on this forum about the gestation! You girls are amazing dealing with such early babies.....it really is so nice of you all to give your support to other scared mummies to be! Hope your baba hangs on in there Laila! Keep us up to date! :)

That's fabulous news. Hopefully you'll keep cooking even longer!
