After undergoing all my fertility testing to find out why me and my husband haven't been able to get pregnant after a year and a half, I just found out today what the problem is. I have a high FSH level (dont know the exact number), and I'm only 31 years old. The doctor said I should skip clomid and go to a more evasive treatment which is the Injectables with IUI included. Has anyone gone through this, what can you tell me about your experience? I'm so scared, they say I have to do the injections myself, are they painful, what are the side effects, I heard weight gain, is this true? Any info is greatly appreciated, thanks.

I had no weight gain, just some bloating in the tummy which was gone the next month. I did injections and they did not really hurt. I would suggest watching some of the videos on "YouTube" where ladies do their injections, there are some tricks that help like:

Before you do any liquids tuck them into your sock or the top of your undies against your skin and allow it to warm up to body temp. That way you don't feel it go in.

Ice right after helps.

Breath out as you go into the skin.

Don't give up hope!

Also, you asked about lowering FSH. You can sometimes with acupuncture and/or herbs. The one thing that might do for you is, if you can get it down for a few months, then when you try injections or Clomid they may work for you.

Worth a try if you have insurance that will help!

Good luck!

Thanks so much for your helpful information! Only one thing, what exactly did you mean when you said:

"Before you do any liquids tuck them into your sock or the top of your undies against your skin and allow it to warm up to body temp. That way you don't feel it go in."

I was confused what you meant. Thanks.

My meds/injectables all came in liquid form, either stuff that gets mixed together or a pre-mixed syringe. Sometimes they are stored at room temp, sometimes in the fridge. So, you'll want to warm them up and no only will they go in more easily they will also not hurt, as your body won't have to react to having cold stuff pushed into it.

Some people warm them in a heating pad set on it's LOWEST setting, as you don't want to hurt the meds or get them to hot at all, just warm! So, I say the best way to warm them is with putting them somewhere against your skin and letting them warm up for a few minutes. So, if it's the little viles then tucking them into the top of your sock, against your skin, will do it. Or, personally, I usually had my sweat pants on so I would tuck the bottles into the top of my pants, just under the edge of my undies to hold them in place. Again, just a few minutes until you can't feel that they are cold against your skin. If you use a heating pad be very very careful, just one minute or so, as you could burn yourself or the meds!
