So I just got home from an overnight at the hospital...threatened pre-term labour. Contractions have finally started to slow down and my cervix is still closed but I was kept overnight for observation.

Got a shot to mature baby's lungs just in case but so far baby is staying put and is not engaged. Have to go back tonight to get the second shot...I am so exhausted. Between my contractions and labour noises (lol) I had absolutely no sleep. Contractions started at 5 pm so went to hospital at 7pm. Had a bunch of tests but most importantly my FFN was negative. I am still having back pain but contractions have gone so far, last one was at 5 am. Got a little sleep from 11pm-2am but the contractions came back with horrible back pain that won't go away.

I saw my ob and I am back tonight for my second steroid shot and back on Friday or more tests, NST, and ultrasound to check cervix and baby. I am quite tired and uncomfortable but baby is still doing great. Lots of movement, etc. Wondering if this bubs is going to stay put!

Anyone have a negative FFN test but still continue on to experience preterm labour?

I'm wondering the same thing since I've been in the hosp 8 days for preterm labor. Had a negative ffn today but I just feel like these babies will be coming before the 2 weeks is up

I posted this in the premature section too so maybe we will get more response then! GL hun! I will keep you posted if I find anything out.

Pretty sure that the FFN test will pick up within a week if you are going to give birth I had 2 neg and I've had 1 positive but even wit a positive result they can be wrong my positive was at 29 weeks and I'm still here they pick up a harmony that is needed for true labor to begin so if you aren't producing that hormone I'd say there isn't much chance of you having a baby my dr says that the hormone needs a week before it will do its damage so hopefully you are both safe xx

Thanks hun! They actually are going to let me give birth at this point if things start to happen...closer to 34 weeks the better but with the steroids they are going to let it happen naturally. Might end up with a c-section if baby does not engage though. Contractions and pains have started to slowly start up again but I am headed to the hospital for my 2nd steroid shot in about an hour so I will see what they say!

How are you feeling?

The steriods help heaps!! I'm all good kinda a bit over bed rest now but they've told me I can come off as of tomorrow (34 weeks) so yay!! They say if you can hold off birth for a week after steriods the baby's lungs develops 3or 4 weeks in that 1 but do most of their work in the first 24 hours!! Anyway good luck and I hope your little one stays in a bit longer for you :)

Just got back from another hospital trip. I was there 13 days ago, cervix was high and closed and contractions didn't register. Tonight they registered and I'm 40% effaced and 1cm dialated. FFN was behAve again. Two shots to stop contractions and a steroid shot in the bum and I am finally home

Thanks Zoesmommy! Mine were registering on the monitor right away but have had no cervix changes. I got the shots as well...both hurt like a bugger! How are you feeling today? I have had a few cramps/contractions here and there with back pain but nothing compared to the other night! I think this bubs might have been playing a trick on mommy for Halloween and pulling a practice run. Get to see it on the u/s again on Friday which I am excited for...I wonder how big he/she is now!

GL and let me know how you get on!

Mild, fleeting contractions but nothing worrisome. I hate the Turbuteline shots they give and how shaky they make me feel. The first shot didn't stop them which is why I got another. Second steroid shot for lungs is Thursday. When are you due?

I am due December 15th but I will be induced on the 8th or c-section on the 5th is bubs is too big. I am delivering early bc my history makes me high risk. Either way this bubs will be here in 5ish weeks, if it decides to stay put. I have had random contractions and back pains too but nothing compared to Monday night when they were continuous and regular...I have maybe had 10 since 5am yesterday.

Yeah...My OB/GYN really doesn't think it will change when my LO will get here and our plan of action will be the same. I might continue to be uncomfortable and still have random contractions but the baby will probably be term. Hopefully I won't have to have the c-section that we have booked on December the 5th and they will induce me on the 8th instead. Just 2 more growth scans...fingers crossed this baby isn't a giant like its big brother! Also have to have another GD test as I have been spilling glucose in my urine the last couple of days...Not until next week as the steroid they gave me can give me a false postive. With all of these tests and hospital visits these next weeks will fly by I think.

I've had two negative ffn tests in the last 6 ish weeks but I did go into preterm twice and both times it has been stopped I went in again last night had another it was inconclusive they said and I'm sitting st 2 cm and I went from 40-50% thinned to 60% thinned in a week and baby went from -3 station to -2 station in a week I has my shots for babies lungs last week so were clinging to keep this baby in.

Thanks for you input Katlin...I hope you are able to keep that LO cooking a bit longer. Evne though you get the shots you still want them to be fully ready to come out into the world. Keep us update on how you are doing. I have not had any cervix changes yet and baby is not engaged but they will confirm that on Friday with tests and and ultrasound!

Glad to hear they've not noticed a change I wouldn't wish this on anyone. The best thing to do is keep off your feet and if you can lay instead of sit it's even better because it helps take the pressure of the baby off the cervix which will prevent as much cervical change as possible. Ill be watching this thread to see how other women are fairing and while I wish none of us had to go through this it's good to know your not alone.

You are a sweetheart! thank you!

Where are you from in Alberta...I grew up in SK but now live in Kelowna, BC. They are not too many of us Canadian girls on here!

I'm up in fort mac but I was raised in kamloops not definitely not allot of canadian girls! Are you guys having a harsh winter this year aswell we've gotten like a foot and a half of snow in the last week.

No not in the Okanagan...Lots of rain so far so hasn't been really nice but no real snow yet...Our snow never stays for long here bc it doesn't get cold enough!

Contractions have started again tonight but this time with a wonderful, going on 36 hour headache. Headed to the hospital again...

Sorry to hear about the contractions and headache :( Any update? I got my second steroid shot today. Subtractions off and on
