Anyone have posterior baby in labor?

I'm 40 weeks and one day. My cervix and baby are both posterior. Any way to get the baby to turn? I'm trying some exercises on all fours. Is it too late for her to turn if she is already engaged at station -2?

If you did experience a posterior baby at birth, how was it? Was it awful? Did the epidural relieve back pain if you had one?

Thanks!

My baby was posterior and honestly it hurt like hell but I have nothing to compare it too and no,my epidural didn't work xxx

All three of my babies were posterior and it can cause back pain during labor. I had a natural birth and soaked in warm water to ease my back pain and labored on all fours most of the time. Also I could not push any of them out in the traditional on your back feet up position, I either had to squat or turn over on all fours and push that way. Keeping myself upright and tilted forward was the key. I pushed all three out without them turning into "optimal" position.

Mine was. It wasn't painful because I had an epidural, but it was hours of pushing vs minutes. My nurse was great and had me push in all sorts of positions in bed and the baby did turn eventually. Don't worry, it will be ok!

My LO was posterior too, she didn't turn at all. My labour was 72 hours long and I pushed for 3.5 hours, but managed to get her out without any help. I did have a shot of pethedine at some point to help me relax for a bit, but it had worn off by the time I started pushing. I found that all the way through the labour my contractions were never regular and they never got any closer than 3 minutes apart (even right at the end) which is why it probably took so long to get her out!

It was wonderful though and I wouldn't change it! Good luck you'll do brilliantly whatever way you do it! x

Does an OP baby necessarily mean you will go overdue? Just a wonderment. (my bubs is direct OP)

Well I was due on the 22nd, pains like backache started morning of the 23rd, proper contractions by 9pm on the 23rd......born on the 26th at 9.22pm. So only 4 days over but labour started the morning after my due date.

My friend had one of her three posterior at 40+1. He never turned. She said it was definitely her hardest birth and the only epidural that didn't completely work, although it sounds like it mostly worked. But I've read that it's common for them to start out posterior and then turn during labor, so you have a good chance of everything going smoothly!

My baby was OP, but I had an epidural which helped to turn him. Didnt do much for the pain, as it only took to one half of my body. I delivered on my due date.

My first baby was. I had an epidural and he was delivered by forceps.

my first son Rhys was back to back but i had a c sect had pain on my back all way through the pregnancy

My LO was back to back. Not going to lie...it hurt like hell. She got stuck too as she was in such an awkward position and I needed to be cut and had a suction cup assisted delivery. My epidural failed but for the few minutes it worked it took all the pain away.
Posterior babies tend to result in a much longer labour so sleep now, eat well, hydrate!

Also spend as much time as you can on all fours now. The minute you start getting contractions too...do it all on all fours or leaning over something. Your uterus has to contract to turn the baby before it can do any of the dilating etc...so helping the baby turn with gravity should speed up the process. x x
