anyone know a way i can feed baby formular and breast milk?

I can't establish a good way to do it? I want to carry on with the breast feeding but also want to give him formular. He's 2 weeks old tomorrow anyone know a good way to combine the 2? Thanks x

Hi, I do it. I bf first for each feed and then top up with formula. I bf at night too, it keeps your supply up if you do it between 1 and 5 am. I did try formula at night thinking lo would sleep longer but she didn't! I pump at least 2 x per day too and take fenugreek, you do have to protect your supply or it will go. It works really well for us although lo has decided now that she would rather be bf than formula so I have to bf more during the day and then she has a bottle before bed and one in the day if I can get her to take it xx

How long does she bf for? My little one is only two weeks so I don't know how long he should be feeding for? And also how much formular he should have as well? Its so difficult this breast feeding thing. Not to mention tiring too. I didn't do it with my ds 1 so its all knew to me x

To start with you need to build your supply, this takes around 6 weeks. I bf as much as possible in this time but with a toddler I couldnt sit there all day with lo attached to me. I let her feed until she either fell asleep or got frustrated as there was no milk then I would top up with formula. At 2 weeks I made 60ml bottles for her and she never finished them!

I would say in the evenings when your other child is in bed try to spend a few hours just letting her cluster feed (lots of feeds very close together) this will really boost your supply. Half the time it will seem like your lo is comfort sucking, he probably is as he wants to be close to mummy but it's telling your body to produce more milk.

The main thing is don't get stressed about it, you will be told many times that you can't to both but you can!! I've lasted this long and I still only top up with around 90 mls after most feeds.
