Anyone know what this could be? Ultrasound Tech didn't say a word!

I had a scan at 6w5d to rule out ectopic as I was having left sided pain and cramping. Baby is right where he/she should be, however, I know that I had seen a second black sac as she was checking my ovaries? My ovaries she said were perfect (they were gray) and then she went back over the other black sac thing I had seen and right to the baby to quickly measure it with a "everything's fine!" And that was it? I thought possibly my bladder, but it was small! She said no cysts or anything. Do any of you know what it was I saw? I'm not crazy, I know I saw it and I wanted to ask SOOO badly, but kept my mouth shut and now no ultrasound until 19-21 weeks :( I should have asked :/ the screening was less than 5 minutes... Checked for baby, checked the ovaries, done! :/

I'm sorry, I couldn't tell you. But I'm sure if it was something to be concerned about she would have mentioned it. I hope you get the answer you're looking for =)

Subchorionic hematoma? Maybe she didn't want to freak you out, but that's how they look on scans. If you're asymptomatic then it's unlikely to cause any problems and reabsorb on its own.

However, it might easily have been something else -- or nothing! Here's my 9 week pic and you can see the subchorionic hematoma in the top right.

I really truly thought I was going to be told it was twins as I tested positive at 3w0d and have just felt this pregnancy is different (this is my fifth pregnancy, one was chemical) I was shocked when she didn't say anything about a twin as I truly felt it was. Then, I saw that black sac looking thing and got excited but she never said a word about it :( was just hoping someone would say TWIN! Lmao! ;)

It's definitely not a twin. Fluid on ultrasound shows up as black.

Twins show black sacs, right? Fraternal twins?

By almost 7 weeks you would have seen a baby in the sac if there was indeed a twin.

sounds like corpus luteum cyst, which is the follicle the egg was released from, that stays large and fills with fluid and supports baby's development until the placenta takes over around 10/11 weeks. This will look like a large black sack on a screen x

From your description it sounds like the corpus luteum. I imagine if the ultrasound tech thought there was any possibility that it was a twin she would have said something- they wouldn't let you go without another scan or extra check ups if they suspected a twin pregnancy!

I had another black sac too at 7 wks but nothing in it.... Very curious as to what that was also !

I won't be convinced there's only one until I have another scan!!! Haha

your bladder can show up as a black sac- could have been it.

If it's anything alarming the radiologist would of seen you your OB would contact you. . The tech is not allowed to do any diagnosing.

At 6+5 you would expect a heartbeat if it was a twin. I agree corpus leuteum or a subchronic haematoma.

Thank you so much, ladies! :) I appreciate your feedback! Should I call my doctors office and ask my doctors nurse about it? Tell her it's bothering me? Or let it go?

I would let it go tbh. The dr will have read the u/s report. It sounds kind of odd calling to enquire about a shadow that you are hoping is a twin if you put yourself in the drs position.

You're right, Marymoomin! She had the doctor look at the pictures etc before I left and they said everything looked great!
