Instead of buying one? I really like the idea of making one myself, so i can add that personal touch and make it more special etc, plus it will give me something to do during mat leave.

What materials did you use? I had a look round Hobbycraft the other day but didn't buy anything, obviously i'd need card, i'd want it to be fairly thick (but not cardboard box thick iykwim) so it's not to flimsy. I'm also thinking of getting an ink pad and some stamps to decorate the pages as I think that would look better than using stickers, something to fasten the pages together, maybe some glue and coloured paper? What did you use to make yours?

Also how many pages would I need? And what would I include? I have a few ideas so far as to what to put in it:
- Scan pictures
- Picture of me and oh
- Bump progression pictures
- Family tree
- Birth story
- Measurements and features i.e weight, length, eye colour, facial features etc.
- Date and time of birth
- Pictures taken after she's born

What size is your baby book, i was thinking maybe A5 sized, i think A4 would be a bit big and difficult to store and keep in good condition

Do you think it's a good idea or not? Sorry about all the questions. Feel free to post pictures of your homemade baby books, I could do with some inspiration :D

Stalking Thread as I'd like to try my hand at this =D

Ive attached pictures of my baby book to give you an idea :) xx

I have a pregnancy journal which shows the progress of every week of the pregnancy and then there is a few little things in it where you can add the first scan photo and the first baby photo, birth story etc. That is more for the pregnancy itself. I will have a baby book just with photos of the baby too. I had one when I was a baby too :)

I want to make one! I might go to TK maxx to look for a pretty scrapbook- they often have nice ones there.

Awesome idea! I am doing something rather similar - a photo a day of my boy's first year, which I will then get made into a book.

Ooh I thought they just did clothes... Is it the bigger stores?

I'm not sure! Pretty much every tk maxx I've been to (admittedly they've all been quite big ones) has had a section with random books and notebooks etc.

May pay a visit to TK Maxx then, WHSmiths may be worth a look too. Can't decide if i want to buy a blank scrapbook and decorate it or make my own. It would probably be more hardwearing and less likely to fall apart if i bought a plain one and personalised it though.

Oooh I might do this, I'm worried I'd start it but never finish it though as my 4 year old is quite demanding on my time lol! Could be a good project for when she starts school though and I'm hugely pregnant and have a few spare hours on my hands each day and want something relaxing to do rather than cooking or cleaning!!xx

we did! I'll post pics later when I get the chance, but basically at our baby shower we had everyone make a themed scrapbook page- "baby's first tooth," "first bath," "hang out with mommy", "baby's first solid food" etc that we can fill in later with pictures. And then we have pages with pictures of us, info on his birth weight, height, etc. It turned out really cute and it's fun to have the love of our family and friends poured into the pages of his keepsake book. =)
