I was thinking about making my own formula from a kit but am worried that baby won't get all the vitamins he needs. This is the kit I was looking at: https://www.radiantlifecatalog.com/product/nourishing-traditions-kit-homemade-baby-formula/baby-child-care

I didn't know we could make our own formula! Looks like too much trouble to me though I'd rather just buy it.

You could supplement with abidec multivitamin if you made your own?

I don't understand why someone would want to make their own formula. It's so time consuming using formula as it is.

Formula is a very complicated and precise product and they've spent years getting it the best they can. The range of vitamins needed are way beyond the average vitamin supplement. I would strongly advise buying formula, especially if your LO is under 6 months old. You can try other milk drinks when baby is older (1 year plus) when milk is no longer as important.

wether or not it has the same vitamins and stuff just call me lazy. It comes in a can and I don't have to jack with it. But if you want to give it a try I would sample some stuff yourself first.

Didn't even know this existed lol. Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable and I'd be too worried it was missing something. There are organic formula's on the market (Earth's best is one off the top of my head) if you're looking for something like that and the Bifidum (that's a probiotic I believe) is in Gerber's Good Start Protect.

I'd be afraid to. There's a reason it's taken them so long to get it right!

There is alot of room for human error when making your own formula, which doesnt happen with mass produced formula brands. Alot of the ingredients are powdered nutrients that look very similar and you could easily mix them up, putting in too much of one and not enough of another etc. Also I imagine making your own formula would be very expensive even when compared to buying ready to feed formula. You need about 20+ different ingredients that you would have to get from specialist online stockists, so if you run out of any formula ingredients it could take a week or more to be able to replenish them. I would just stick to buying formula. Its one of the few things where DIY varieties are not the better (or even a safe) option. xxx

Wow I didn't know they had a kit! I was always worried about not doing things right. Now that dd is over 1 I make my own help milk. I am totally disappointed with the fomulas that are offered at the store. The organic ones used corn or rice syrup and most of them had some sort of sugar added. I don't understand why they needed this as lactose is a sugar. I ended up with similic advance because it didn't contain any sugar other than lactose. If I had seen this kit I probably would have tried it!

I've never heard of making your own! I personally wouldn't, formula in a tin is already made and is easier and you know what's in it, I'd be scared making my own didn't contain all the things needed/I did it wrong.
