Hi ladies I had an emergency early scan yesterday due to stomach pains. I was expecting to be about 6 weeks 1day but only measuring 5weeks 3days. Both sonographer and dr said this can be normal so early but don't know if they were just saying that to make me feel better. There was a sac and a yolk and even saw a small fetal pole but too small to see heartbeat.

I am really scared as had similar pains with my last miscarriage and when I was scanned at almost 8 weeks was only enrapturing 5 weeks 6days. That time pain was a lot worse and also had bleeding which I haven't got this time. So keeping fingers crossed.

Just hoping some of you ladies might have some positive storied to tell xxx

Do you know when you ovulated? I measured one week behind with my daughter, but I was also expecting it because I knew I usually ovulated late in my cycle (CD 21). But I've also read stories here of women who measured late (even if they ovulated at the "normal" time) and everything was fine! I hope it's the same for you!!!

Hi Hun,
I had an early scan at 9w4d, but measured only 8w3d. Doctor was not concerned at all and that little baby is now a healthy 2 week old boy!

Sending lots of positive thoughts your way for a healthy pregnancy!

I don't think your dates are off by enough to be worrisome. You can't know exactly how far along you are because there is no way to know how long the baby took to implant; this could account for the missing days. Good luck and I hope you see a healthy heartbeat next time you look <3

It's very, very common to measure small so early. Baby is so tiny that it's really difficult to get an accurate measurement xx

Thank you ladies. That is all very reassuring x x keeping my fingers crossed to see a bigger bubba when scanned again on Thursday x

My baby measured 4 days behind at early scan, and by the time we went it for our nuchal scan she had caught up to my original dates. I used ovulation predictors so knew exactly when I had ovulated, and going by their dates would have got bfp at 5dpo. Anyway went into labour at 36+4 (36+0 according to them) and had a healthy baby!

Yeah I agree it's difficult to get accurate measurements so early on in the pregnancy, but no bleeding is a great sign. Good luck Hun xx

I wouldn't worry about it! DS measured almost two weeks behind what the dumb 28-day charts say... Every baby is different, every gestation is different. I'm sure your LO is growing perfectly and happily!

Edited to add: DS also came out at 39 wks, weighing 9lbs 13 oz, 23" long. He certainly made up for himself!

I measured smaller and mines an ivf pregnancy so no mistaking dates! I was 7+2 and measured 6+6. Heartrate of 120 which I was nervous about but doctors were even fine about that.

Now I'm 9w4d and have been listening to baby on my doppler at home so far so good.

My friend also went for scan at 7+2 and measured 6+4. That was natural conception and baby is now a healthy 6 weeks old.

Best of luck. Measuring smaller is totally fine :)
