well i am 13weeks 6days and i went to the doctors this morning to get the results from my nuchal screening which came back awesome at 1:1000 chance so extremely very low risk. :happydance: anyhow he decided to do the usual checks, BP, Urine, Weight, symptoms/feelings etc.... and i havent gained any weight yet im still 55kg  please bear in mind i had pretty bad HG (hyperemesis) early thru the pregnancy and im only just slowly coming off the zofran at the moment im down to 1 a day compared to 3 a day.

so i got this nice big long lecture from doctor that i should be gaining weight and i need to start eating more etc etc, to top it offf my oh was sitting next to me being cheeky nudging me with a cheeky telling me i told you so :haha:
(im very worried about my weight have been for a long time i was only complaining about my love handles earlier this morning  & my last 3 pregnancies i ate whatever i wanted and i gained 1kg per week till they were born, but this time i am sticking to a very healthy eating plan so dont make the same mistake)

i am wondering if there is anyone else who is same postition as me that hasnt gained any weight yet, & their dr is concerned?

I'm actually eating horribly and haven't gained a thing. I do eat a lot of fruit, but I feel like my sugar intake is through the roof. This is bad, because I hate hate hate blood tests (turn into a blubbering baby) and I'm just asking for glucose tolerance testing with how much sugar I consume. :dohh:

My doctor hasn't said anything, but I do have a borderline obesity BMI (29) so that may be why.

I'm 15 weeks and haven't gained weight....maybe a pound at the most. My doctor isn't concerned. He did mentioned at my 14 week appointment I hadn't gained weight, but that is of no concern because women gain typically 0-4 pounds in the first trimester.

However, from here on out you should be gaining roughly 1 pound per week.

At my 19/20 week appointment, he says he expects around a 5 pound weight gain.

I'll also mention I'm about 55kg (120-123ish pounds).

I just switched providers, and my new midwife is concerned about my lack of weight gain. My previous was not, since I was a bit overweight before pregnancy. His theory was that pregnancy weight gain should depend on pre pregnancy weight. The skinnier you were, the more you should gain. Overweight women should gain about half of what women at normal weight pre pregnancy should gain. That theory is starting to gain popularity in the USA, but is not yet commonly accepted.

20 weeks here and still 14lb down from my pre-pregnancy weight. I have had and am still vomiting most days and still on medication for it. My appetite has been increasing the past few days. My Dr is not concerned and at my 20 week scan the baby was just fine and the right size for my dates. I wouldn't worry too much about it, I know as soon as my hyperemesis lessens I will start gaining. Everyone gains at a different pace. X

It depends on the person, but my OB expects me to gain 30lbs (likely won't happen). There are a good amount of women who are overweight who ate terribly prior to becoming pregnant that will change their eating habits for the better, which may make them lose weight for quite some time if their activity level is the same.

I was definitely surprised that my OB expected me to gain so much, considering 30lbs would be normal for someone who was normal weight.

My Dr wouldn't bother with my weight, and the last time I saw him was last week. He knew I was still constantly sick (But is easing off, have my fingers crossed). He measured my baby, and the growth was pretty good, so he wasn't too concerned.
I lost about 4kg in first trimester. He just advised me to eat, and keep eating whenever I can, and don't worry about eating healthy yet.

I am a hb sufferer and I lost 16 pounds the first trimester and I still haven't gained all that back and I'm 21 weeks so I'm still at a net loss and no one has mentioned my weight. Unless you're under weight and needed to gain a lot of weight I'd ask him to clarify.

I'm 11+4 and have lost weight through sickness since getting my bfp, think I've lost about 6 pounds so far...

I weighed 54.6kgs at 6 weeks and at 19 weeks I now weigh 56.5kgs. So all in all I have gained 1.9kgs. My OB hasnt said anything as yet, and the babies are growing so well. I'm not too worried about it.

Honestly, ignore your dr, what a stupid thing to say. There are loads of women in this forum who've not put on any weight till 20+ weeks who've not had any MS. I didn't have MS & only starting gaining weight at 25 weeks. Baby weighs nothing really until third tri. My mw & consultant have both said it is fine, baby is growing perfectly from scans and fundal measurements & I did this with my son, no weight gain till 25-26 weeks.

Xx

I did not start gaining weight until last month. (Which was a couple weeks after they put me on Zofran.) So I gained 3 lbs last month and 3 lbs this month. For a total of 6lbs. and I am 27 weeks.

I've only gained 1lb so far which is way less than last time but my consultant and midwife has shown no concern.

I think as long as your eating healthy just eat more of the healthy stuff that way your vitamin intake etc will be higher but you won't feel bad for eating more. Hope that makes sense lol!

i didnt start gaining weight till i was around 20 wks, dr. didnt say anything to me about not gaining weight earliar she said the baby was growing good. I am now 25wks and have only gained around 8 pounds.

Thanks heaps girls, I don't feel so worried now, I guess In the long run the weight will come off easier :)

My bmi is slighly underweight to begin with as I'm 175cm tall & 55kg, but I'm taking prenatal vitamins as well so fx everythings going ok & bubby is taking everything in I eat and growing I'm happy :)

I haven't put on any weight, lost 2lb from gallstone pain the other week, im not eating amazingly healthy still have my chocolate but im really pleased as I ate like a horse in previous pregnancies and really struggled with the weight after. I mentioned to midwife the other week about my weight after id been ill and my size 8 jeans were baggy on my legs that has never happend and she said we dont start measuring for a few weeks and cause iv been ill no point weighing me. I expected her to say its a myth the eating for 2 as reading online you don't need to put on any weight until the end of the pregnancy but she never.

I haven't gained at all. I've lost 1stone 2pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. Got my 20 weeks scan on Monday so will be able to see if baby is ok. I'm not worrying too much as I did the same with my daughter through bad MS and she was a healthy 8lbs 12oz at birth.

Try and make sure you get some fruit and veg and milk in every day. I'm not much of a fruit eater but love veg so I drink pure fruit juice.

I'm sure you'll be fine. These little babies are tough. X

Well I'm 24 wks and still haven't gained a lb!!! Nobody has mentioned my weight because the baby is growing just fine!!

I've only gained my first couple of lbs this week and its been the same with my other pregnancies too, don't worry :)

ive lost 8lb and weigh less than what i did before i got pregnant, although i am still a member of slimming world, but as ive not fancied chocolate etc and craving more fruit im losing weight better than the other girls there to their dismay lol.
my midwife isnt worried though and said its quite normal for pregnant ladies to initially lose lots of weight at first with eating a much healthier and balanced diet what with pre-natals etc. i am following the pregnancy sw plan so i am having more healthy extras but also still having all of my syns too (if not more some days)
