Hey ladies,
is anyone not having a birthing partner withthem?
this will be my fith baby and due to a change in circumstances im wanting to be on my own for labour and birth, but i dont think the hospital is too keen on that.

Just wondering what everyones experiences were

My mum laboured and birthed without a partner. As long as you're prepared to be left for long periods alone then go for it. I'm not sure I could labour without some sort of support whether it be a partner, mum or friend.

But then you've been through it 4 times before so you know what to expect and how you cope pain wise.

im in the same boat well i might have 2 do it alone as they are thinking of inducing me at 34 weeks due 2 failing growth and low af volume my parents will b away on holiday at that time so i will have nobody 2 watch after my other 2 so my partner will have 2 im a little gutted but what will b will b x

I can imagine it being more of an issue if it was your first baby but your fifth it shouldn't be an issue as you are pretty informed about whats going to happen.

I'm doing it alone and this is my first, there isnt anyone I can have or would want with me. I am planning to just cope, I wont know any better as not been here before.

dont worry ladies i did it all on my own, my husband is bit of a selfish twa+ basically wasnt interested when i was pregnant never even felt him move once dropped me off at hospital to be induced and i called him at 5am following day to tell him to bring the car seat i had the baby.
To be honest it was a million times better without him there, I could have had my mum she would have been great but i personally would rather just be left alone. I had 2 midwives and in the pushing stage one held my hand and helped hold my legs up dont think you need any one really.
After doing it on my own i still feel so much better as i did something that amazing all by myself
At the end of the day you only end up yelling at who ever is with you as they are bound to wind you up which makes you more stressed if you got no one to yell at then you are less likely to get more stressed and wound up.
Plus if you need anything the midwives will get it, They even fed me water they are not going to be horrible as you have no one.

I may as well not have.

Hubby was and is useless.

DS1 the best thing he did was put a damp cloth on my head after the MW told him to, he didnt come to theatre with me for my EMCS.

DS2 he let me push on his leg when I had ctxn and he was in and out of the room like a jack in the box and when he was in the room had his head between his knees!

Feckin useless.

i was on my own (not through choice) for the majority of my labour. I got to 9cm without any pain relief and on my own. My partner arrived for the pushing stage but the majority i was by myself.

Looking back i probably coped better because i just had to get on with it!.x

I have been in labour since yesterday afternoon and is having a home birth. midwife has been and gone 3times but apart from that i have been on my own and still coping :D

contractions now 4mins apart so might start to change my mind soon xxxx
