Anyone on Latrozole??

Hi ladies

Hope you don't mind if I join you in this thread. I am 37 and have been TTC for 14 months now. Have had a HSG and scans and all seems ok with me and DH SA is all good so we have been put in the "unexplained fertility" category which is very annoying. Have just changed doctors and the new ones want to try me on Letrozole starting this cycle so start taking 5mg a day it in 2 days time. Had a shock when buying the drugs as they are so super expensive here in Bahrain (not covered under health insurance :growlmad:)

Feeling really positive about starting as see it as a good step in the right direction to help us get a BFP. I also hear that they are so much better to take than Clomid which is what the last doctor wanted me to start.

Would love to know how you guys are going with them and if any of you get your BFP soon.

Take care and have a great day :hugs:

Yay! Hi Carole it is so good to see you over here. I really think after talking to my dr. that the letrozole sounds so much better than Clomid. She said it tends to produce better quality eggs (though maybe not quite so many, which is still fine). And has WAY fewer side effects. I hope you do really well on it and I can't wait to hear your BFP news! Hugs!!

Hey Rottpaw thanks honey. I am really positive about this next step now and hoping that it is the one to get our BFP. I sooo want to be pregnant soon.

Bloods done tomorrow morning then start taking it right away and then back for another scan on day 10. Hoping that I will be able to share the pregancy journey with you soon :hugs:

Hi Caz so sorry to hear about your losses. Not sure if your doc will give you Letrozole as I was under the impression that both Clomid and Letrozole do the same job but some docs prefers Letrozole as believe it has less side effects. Maybe if you push to try it for a couple of months and see what happens. They may wish to try the next step which is injectables which alot of my friends have had great results with.

We all share a common problem that we are having difficulty TTC but our bodies are all very different whilst some do really well with Clomid others don't and your doc just needs to find what is the right meds for your body. I hope that your doc listens to your concerns when you have your next appointment and you find what works for you.

Sending you lots of :hugs: and :dust:

Morning Ladies

I just got my results back and they are all really good, my FSH was 6.1 so I can stop panicking now. I was convinced that there was something wrong as my periods had become so very light and short. And in fact my period has improved loads this month and I was happy when it was very heavy and lasted longer, DH just laughed and thought I was completely mad. so I am hopeful that I will get there.

I am so happy and now just need to finish the letrozole and go back for my next scan on Saturday before ovulation.

How are the rest of you doing ? and are you doing anything exciting this weekend?

Take care and hope to catch up with you later:hugs:

Hey Caz

I have posted a link below which lists out the meds, there are quite a few. My friends have been on Gonal-F, Follistim, Pergonal.

Hope this helps :hugs:

Im glad i found this thread!! We are on our 3rd cycle, 1st 5mg cycle. We have been TTC almost 2yrs, everything b/w is normal. After losing the baby last fall, they thought i had a clotting issue, but results came back fine- im not convinced though (history of placental issues + losses). I just dont O. We started letrozole and was told every other cycle and not to up the dose unless i dont O..... well 1st cycle was perfect. O cd16 on 32d cycle. then we skipped a cycle...2nd cycle long and no O.. both were 2.5mg. then we went on to next cycle (no skipping) and now im on 5mg and WTO. Im hoping not skipping will help. I have enough letrozole for another cycle or two, then I am going back to Soy (got us out BFP with our loss) and if that doesnt work, i guess ill see about Clomid. :(

sorry that was long winded. I just have been dying to find ppl to talk to about it all.

So sorry to hear about your loss.

Really hoping that this cycle is the one for you, who knows upping the dosage may be the kick start your body needs.

This is my first month taking Letrazole and I am also on 5mg. We are not sure what our problem is as all tests are fine and I am ovulating on my own but the doc thinks that this will help us and increase our chances. I am feeling really positive about it but guess just need to wait and see. Going to the clinic on Saturday to have a scan as due to O on Monday. I am normally quite good with the lead up to O, it is the TWW which I can't handle as get my hopes up too much.

Fingers crossed that Letrozole is the meds for us all to achieve our BFP very soon:hugs:

The Dr. told me he gave me letrozole b/c it had less side effects. I actually start the first cycle this Friday. Little scare since we have been trying officially for 16 months! I have been so stressed, I just went in for my bloodwork the 14th & they think they found POCS. I'm not sure what to expect or how soon to expect it. Never was good at the waiting game. Headed back next Weds. to see if it helped.

Hey Military Wife I know what you mean with being a little scared but we have to see this as a positive step. I have been TTC for 14 months now and this is the first cycle on Letrozole. At least now we are taking action and trying to kick our body up the butt into getting everything going again. I know that PCOS is daunting but there are so many ladies on this site who have achieved the BFP after Letrozole or Clomid so even if that is the issue it can be overcome.

Btw I have just finished taking the meds and was impressed with them as I have had no side effects at all. Hoping you are just as lucky. Will be having a scan on Saturday to see what effect they have had and will let you know.

I know that all of this is so stressful but hang in there and I really hope that this gets you your BFP very soon:hugs:

Hi Ladies,

Hope you are all having a fab weekend so far.

Well I have had a busy weekend Thursday was the 2 year anniversary of meeting my DH and went out for a romatic meal to the place he took me on our first date, yesterday was brunch for a friends birthday and then today went back to the docs for a scan. Doc was very happy with my eggs can see a very healthy and large egg ready to pop out and he was extremely happy with my lining which was nearly 11mm. So funny he gave me a pic of the scan as he knows that I had been worried about my lining. Most ladies get a pic of their baby and I came home grinning from ear to ear about my pic of my lining. I am sure my DH thinks I am crazy:haha:

Well it is looking like I will O late tomorrow or early Monday so will have to keep riding the wave of romance from our anniversary and hope that this is our month. I am feeling very positive so will just have to keep this mind set going in the TWW.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend ladies and hope to catch up with all your news very soon:hugs:
