Hi Girls,:flower: have posted on depression in pregnancy threads before now but today have been told that the most commonly prescribed ssri in pregnancy is setraline as it has no withdrawal for baby, and is minimal in breast milk. However, I was not told what potential risks (if any) there are in taking this medication while in the third trimester??

I believe I read that someone on here was taking it but am interested in what kind of doses are considered safe and if it's in mine and baby's best interest for me to do so.

Thank you. x:flower:

hi

Sorry not on any medication but didn't want to read and run. Have you spoken to your GP regarding this? They should be able to access information regarding safe doses through the BNF. If you have been on it throughout your pregnancy then i guess the risks wouldn't increase during 3rd tri (saying that im no doctor) esp if you were on it during your 1st tri. I guess it's all to do with risk, if you have a history of depression then maybe a happy mummy would be more benefit to you and your baby. My friend has just had a baby while on anti depressants (different one to yourself) as she felt that it was better that she was well, the main downside for her was that she hasnt breast fed, but she has a lovely healthy little girl which is far more important.

Dont know if this is any help, sorry if not ha x
