Right, long story short..........

Not been ovulating, diagnosed with PCOS, I think I ovulated last week (temp went up loads) so went in for cd21 test (101 days late!)....... Anyway i've just rang for my results and the receptionist said they were normal and 118!!!! Now i've just googled this and 118 is off the scale........ what the hell have they tested for?????

HELP!!!!

And to make matters worse the docs are shut now so can't speak to the until tomorrow:hissy::hissy::hissy:

Any replies might just save my sanity! x x

Hi Rabbit,
What did the website say with regards to explaining what the normal levels should be?
I cant really give you any help as I dont really know, if the results were not normal I would of thought they would of called you, so try not to worry too much (easier said than done!) and call first thing tomorrow.
I hope every thing is ok hun.
I get my results back on Friday for cd21 blood test, what questions did you ask the receptionist?

yup, I once had a 94.8, and was told it was off the scale. Turns out I was pregnant. I say test on 14 dpo!!

I can't remember who i first got this off, but it may be useful. However, I do remember someone else (Krissi?) telling me there were two different measures used.....but this is all I've ever known...

All the sites i've looked at say max 50/60/70 ish. Thirty seems to be the average!?

I didn't ask the receptionist anything because when she told me the level and said it was normal I hadn't googled it. It was only when I got off the phone I did my research...... and now wishing I hadn't! The docs can't open soon enough, restless night ahead!

Mine was a 4 and I was told it should be over 30 to indicate ovulation

Lyns I cant read the text even when I make it bigger, can you sent me the link, or give me the general gist....... am I well and truly off the scale????

the chart is in ng/ml, which isnt used in the uk. we use something like nmol/ml, and with that, over 30 for ovulation. The range I was given by my doctor goes up to 86 for post ov. but I didnt get the range in pregnancy.

Basically it does say that 118 is high unless you are pregnant. If you want to pm me an email address I'll pop it over. Don't know the original link as it was posted as a JPG

Sparlke baby do you mean that your levels didn't get high enough when you were pregnant?

I've spoken to the doc today who said not to panic and the normal range is 30-90 however above 90 is fine too, she said maybe my body has had to try super hard to ovulate! I'm still a little worried/puzzled though....... oh well, at least it looks like i've ovulated

thanks all x

Hmmm... mine was 42 and im a little worried that was too low now :dohh: x

No, my prog was fine, but they guessed that because I didnt O til day 82, the embryo had been over exposed to hormones and damaged it. Prog was perfectly good.

Nicky, I dont think 42 is low, mine was definately off the scale though. Everywhere i've looked says over 30 and you're fine x

Hmmm... mine was 42 and im a little worried that was too low now :dohh: x

Not low at all hun, over 20 indicates OV on a non medicated cycle and over 30 on a medicated one :)

I was told 30 was the minimum that shows you have ovulated, my first 2 cycles on Clomid I was 160 and 190! They talked about reducing my dose but apprehensive as it meant splitting tablets etc so I'm still on 50mg. They never mentioned any dangers or complications with them being so high so it must be safe enough.

Coming up to CD28 on my 4th cycle and will let you know what my last 2 levels were if I can remember to ask for them.

Hi my result was 89 on cd 21 and i was told that was a very good result and indication of ovulation i don't think you've got anything to worry about :hugs:

When I was on my second round of clomid they didn't tell me my number results for cd21, but did tell me that I hadn't ovulated at all...no possibility...and that's when I got my BFP with Charlotte.
