I just had my first loss on new years eve (it was my first pregnancy). It was an early second trimester loss and all tests revealed little about what happened. Pathology left them thinking I may have had a placental abruption. My doc said she will probably have me see a high risk specialists and also recommended putting me on progesterone. I went to pick up the prescription even though I won't be taking it for a few weeks and holy cow is it expensive! It was $110 after insurance so I am holding off until after 2/1 when my new insurance kicks in. Has anyone else taken this? Was it that expensive for you?

I don't go back to the OB until 2/10 so I am anxiously awaiting that appointment to find out if I need to see a high risk. I want to be able to try again but want to make sure I do everything I can and maybe the specialist will have a different recommendation. This is so confusing! I hate waiting to see the doctor.

Hi there, I'm also looking to progesterone. We need to take a test here on day 21 pre pregnancy to determine if that's the problem. I wish my dr would just give me a prescription so I don't need to wait. Did they do it as a precaution for you? Or was it proven your levels are low and that was possibly the cause Of your loss?

I would think you would be okay to wait until February 1, as you are not yet pregnant. But I'm interested to hear what your dr advises.

Hi there I was just posting on another board about progesterone I take natural progesterone that I get on Amazon.com called Kokoro cream it is all natural and nonsynthetic which in my opinion is the best progesterone you can get, I started taking progesterone even before TTC because the majority of women I believe are estrogen dominant and need progesterone I have done a lot of research on it and I strongly believe that the all natural topical cream is just as good if not better then a prescription and much more affordable-to me the prescriptions may not be natural and maybe giving you extremely high doses of progesterone which your body doesn't necessarily need, the topical cream gives you the amount that you need and I have noticed a huge difference in many ways since taking progesterone, let me know if you have anymore questions hope that helps

I was out on progesterone this pregnancy. Have they actually tested your
Levels? I insisted that they test mine that's how I found out I needed it. It won't hurt if you don't but like you said it's expensive.
My insurance just sent me a letter saying since it had to be made at a compound pharmacy they are no longer covering it at all! Thankfully I'm not on it anymore but I think that price is pretty normal.

I would ask why dr wants you on it. You had a 2nd trimester loss? At that point you would have been off of it anyway I think. Most people only take it until 12-14 weeks.

We had been trying to conceive for almost 2 years when they decided to go ahead and test my progesterone levels. They came back low but wanted to re-test since I may have ovulated late and it could have explained the low levels. Before they could retest I got pregnant. My hormone levels were great during the pregnancy so I was never put on progesterone. My doctor said she wanted to put me on it while TTC now because according to her it will help bulk up my lining and promote a good attachment. Since I had spotting almost my entire pregnancy and then a possible abruption she said it most likely indicates a problem with the placenta. If I can do something to help the attachment she thinks it might help.

No I had 2 losses both at 7 weeks. He doesn't want to put me on it yet, he wants to test for it. But thsf means waiting a month to TTC. That's why I'm asking if there is anyone who didn't wait.

That makes sense. Starting feb 1 sounds good. It's just over a week anyway.

I won't be able to start taking it 2/1, that's just when I will be able to pick it up using my new insurance. I believe the doc said to start taking it 3 days after I ovulate and then continue taking if I get a BFP or stop when AF comes and resume again the following month after ovulation. This of course means on top of the costly pills I would need to add in the cost of ovulation predictor kits.

As of now I am 3 weeks and 2 days post miscarriage and still awaiting my first period. I believe I ovulated about a week ago since I had some ovulation cramping so I am thinking my first period should come in another week or so. Doc said we could start trying after my first period.

I take P every single cycle as my P is always low and I tend to be estrogen dominate due to the low P!!
I have a compound RX it cost me $80 out of pocket cuz my insurance doesn't cover it but my last pregnancy they had to up my dose 4X 200mg Prometrium and my insurance covered most of it if I did mail order! HTH
U might have to call your insurance and explain that it is for hormone replacement or pregnancy not Fertilty treatment!
I also have used the cream but w my low numbers I would have to bath in it and the Prometrium actually helped me sleep as I get insomnia when PG!!

I was in endomitrin it cost my $364 because it wasn't covered lucky for me I only needed half the script because my doctor was monitoring my blood weekly and as soon as there was a drop I went on it at 12 week I went off it I have my new script and same plan I have my left over to start but I won't need it until my numbers start yo drop which is usually week 6

I didn't wait not on purpose I was told I was in the clear and wouldn't ovulate until my hcg numbers were under 50 so I stopped bleeding with in two days so we did it I waited for my AF and nothing called the doctor and yep I was pregnant the monitored me like crazy once my numbers dropped just a bit I was on progesterone and carried my little girl to 31 weeks. They found out I have an auto immune issue that causes my body to want to get ride on the baby during my last trimester because the baby is pulling in my blood and my body thinks it's killing me but that's an issue all on its own.

Mrs smith that is heartbreaking. Is it something they can monitor for your next pregnancy to avoid that happening in the last trimester?
