I have a bad sinus infection that won't go away and my dr. gave me a 10 day course of amoxicillin to take if I wanted. I know it's "most likely safe" but I'm still scared...especially since it's a twice a day for 10 days kind of thing. I just can't stand feeling so bad any longer. I'm sure it's true, but has anyone taken amoxicillin and had a healthy baby?

Yeah, doctor gave me them for a severe ear infection at 12 weeks, 19 weeks and 23 weeks.
Also had co-dydramol for falling down the stairs.
And to think at the beginning I was petrified to take paracetamol! LOL!

Oh and BTW, I haven't had a healthy baby yet, obviously got 3 weeks left, but she's on par, healthily growing, moving, everything. The doctor said it was fine, but I couldn't have the tablets to fix my perforated eardrum cause that could cause harm to her.

Hope I helped and you feel better soon. Don't suffer un-needed x

Yep, I was given them for a chest infection and told they were safe.

Yea i had to take a course when i was preg with Hollie, she is the picture of health. Im on a course now actually as i have a water infection. xx

I had it last time- I think it was for a urine infection. I was OK and so was LO, and it was more than a one day course.

Ive had them in previous pregnancies..they are one of the anti biotics of choice during pregnancy..dosage should be 250 mg tablets not 500 mg..

I've had it several times for UTIs.. 500mg 3 times a day. I researched it a lot online before I took them the first time and it is safe xx

Thanks! I know it's safe but I still get freaked out. I'm going to start them tonight and hopefully feel better by monday.

i had amoxicillin at 6ish weeks pregnant. someimes better to take medicine than leave the infection
x

I have had them for a UTI this pregnancy... it is far worse for baby to have an infection of any type as it can cause prem labour etc x

Definitely take them, and take all of them (don't quit when you start feeling better, all the bugs won't be gone and they'll come back worse). I had to take them for a UTI and my doc reassured me that they're totally ok in pregnancy, and they've been perscribed for decades. But they might be a bit hard on your stomach, unfortunately. That'll go away after you finish them.

i have had it several times this pregnancy mainly cause of urin infections with my son an this baby aswell so i wouldnt worry its safe to take an infact better to take it than to not!

Yeah, Ive had this about 3 times so far. Once for a UTI, second time for a throat infection and then most recently for a sinus infection. Perfectly safe, it was always the last option for the DRs to prescribe this, I had tried natual stuff and paracetamol first, but it was the only thing that would clear up my infections.

I had it for a sinus problem too. It was my 4th bad cold since being pregnant and since having them I haven't suffered with it.

I had amoxicylin for a chest infection and sinusitus (at the same time - not fun!) at 13 weeks - all was fine - cleared it up and baby is doing great :happydance:

likewise just finished a course of 500mg 3x day for a sinus infection.

they are the only ones that i would take, sounds like he is giving you low dose over a longer period of time x and i am fussy

Alot of ladies on them!!!!

I have just finished a course of 10 day treatment for tonsilitis.

I came home from doc's with a course that was double the dose of my hubby (his throat had lots more pustules than mine) who had his precribed the day before.

He was on 1 x 4 250mg a day

I was on 2 x 4 250mg a day

I wasnt sure if dose was correct or ok so rang through to labour ward to consult doctor there and apparently they can administer massive doses to labouring women, like 1800mg every 4 hrs!!!

So yes it is safe but i have to say it took forever to work.

My midwife said recovery can be delayed cause of our nutrition going to placenta before repairing our bodies.

So in effect, we get the left left overs!!!!!
