Anyone taking labetalol? Side effects?

As the title says, is anyone taking labetalol? Or have they done in the past? My BP has been creeping up over the last few weeks so they've started me on it today. Within an hour of taking my first dose my scalp is so tingly/itchy! Feels like something is crawling on me! Apparently it is a side effect, but it's just unpleasant!

I stared taking it while I was pregnant and am still on it, no side effects at all.

What is your dose? I've been on 50 mg day and 50 mg at night since before I got pregnant. I felt tired the first few days but I think that was it, but my dose is small. I hope it gets better!

Yes, my scalp got soooo tingly, I hated it. It was the WORST!!

It does seem to die down after a week or two of taking it, though.

I'm on 200mg twice a day. I've been up half the night with the worst headache though, which I'm attributing to the labetalol. Actually scared to take my next dose. I never get side effects from medication, so this is really not fun.

Edited to correct dose! I thought my tablets were 100mg but they're 200mg.

Okay, that's like 4 times my dose so I'm not sure what that would do to me either. I'm quite sensitive to medication!! How high was your BP??? Sorry about the headache.

It was the bottom line they were worried about, it was creeping up. Last week it was averaging 130/90, this week 130/95 so I'm guessing it's preventative. My booking in BP was 120/60 though so it's just been going up up up.

I was on 200mg a day and the 1st 4 or 5 days I had a headache but after that it settled down x

Just to update, I had a BP check today and it was 131/83 which is the lowest its been in ages!

Yes labetalol causes my skin to be very itchy

I was on a v high dose by the end - 200mg 4x a day - and I remember it made me horrendously thirsty.

No headaches, though. It actually got rid of the heafqchhei was getting for my high BP.

I took it during my pregnancy with DS. I didn't have any side effects but my DS when he was born had trouble regulating his blood glucose levels for the first couple of days. He was ok tho. I didn't know that was a side effect of the drug until he was born.
