I'm 12 weeks and 4 days today and had my nt/ 12 week scan. Doctor says he's 80 percent sure its a boy. I'm guessing he's going by the skull and nub theory considering I'm not that far along. Has anyone else been told a gender that soon before and it was wrong? I just don't want to get set on having a boy then have it change. >__<

Well I wasn't told at 12. But with my first pregnancy I was told maybe girl at 14 weeks, for sure girl at 18 weeks, and girl throughout the rest of the pregnancy. In total I had about 4 ultrasounds, baby's legs spread, that said girl. And then after about 26 weeks of hearing its a girl, out popped a lil boy. Honesty I don't see how they missed his junk, not exactly small. Lol. So take it from me, spend the extra money and get a 4D done somewhere. You don't wanna spend all that money on pink or blue, and then get it wrong

Honestly I'd just ignore that. Neither of my kids followed the skull theory and only one thennub. I mean its a 50/50 chance lol but id wait until after 16w andrecheck!

I'd agree with Blah, I wouldn't pay attention at 12 weeks.

Yeah I thought it would be too early but he sounded so sure that it was a boy. I wish he wouldnt have tokd me anything. Lol now its going to drive me crazy wondering. Maybe I'll still get my lil girl. Hehe although I'll be happy with whichever I have.

Its poss he was right but still that 50/50. Take with pinch of salt for now and see what the next scan brings. Its all so exciting! :D

Fantasise a little but don't go out and splurge yet, I wouldn't trust it x

I was told 95% sure girl at 13 weeks and they were right but it was a 4D ultrasound. Definately dont go out and buy blue yet.

Blondemommy i was so scared of that happening to me last pregnancy as we went on pink overload with clothes and the nursery! What did you do will all your pink stuff???

I was told it was almost positive it was a boy at my 12w scan. My husband has already told everyone it's a boy, and everyone is now calling him by his name and thinking about blue presents, but I just don't know if we can be sure. We did see something that was clearly sticking out in between the legs.

The skull and nub thories aren't medically accepted I don't think, I am pretty sure I read recently that the skull theory (or the other one can't remember) was actually started on babynbump!!! Let me put it this way, I wouldn't be going out buying blue after 12 weeks. Private gender scans will only be done from 16 weeks.

my friend was told she was having a boy at 12 weeks, then at her 20 week scan was told it was definitely a girl. My hopsital refuse to tell you so we're paying for a gender scan to find out.

my step sister was told she was having a boy and she had a girl!

At 12 week boy and girl genitals are exactly the same . They don't even start to change into either or until 13 weeks and arnt formed enough to accurately predict on an ultrasounds until 15 weeks but eat to get a gender scan at 18 weeks as they are bigger

If any one get a gender done at 12-14 weeks the tech is really just guessing and has a 50/59 of getting it right but I wouldn't bet in any result they give

I won't be finding out till 20 weeks (they won't tell before that).. but an acquaintance got told at 16 weeks that she was having a girl - was over the moon because they only wanted to have one and they were hoping for a girl, went crazy shopping - then went in a week or so later for an emergency scan due to some issues and got told it was a boy.. and she gave birth to a boy.

I also had a 4d scan done. I'm thinking of scheduling a private scan in a couple weeks since my next scan isn't for a while.

Would be crazy if "he" ended up a she because I was hoping for a little girl

Haha we did the same thing. Pink walls and all. Nothing was neutral. Luckily a family member had a lil girl a few weeks older so she got alot, the rest my mom packed up and is storing it cause me and hubby decided we aren't quitting till we get a girl. Lol! This time I'm definitely paying for a 4D. Lucky I have everything I need for a boy or girl so I'm all set.

I did insist to my husband that it was not definite, but he is stubborn and claims it's a boy. A friend of mine (who is not that nice anyways and loves contradicting us) said she was sure it was a girl, and my husband seemed very annoyed but the comment. It'll be a bummer for him if it turns out a girl, not because he doesn't want one, but because he's already convinced lol

I had a 4d scan yest, and ours was quite obviously a boy. The sonographer even commented that she couldn't keep the ender a secret. I guess they don't want to commit at this stage, but he had boy parts lol. They can have external genitals at twelve weeks, but they are not fully formed. this scan gave us incredible detail, and i ave also seen other 12week 4d scans in which the gender was clear. im kinda hoping we all mis-saw something lol.Xxx

So I've heard of 3 of my friends being told they're having a boy at their 12 week and all had boys...from what I've heard ( but clearly other people were told boy and had girls so this is probably wrong) but I've heard if it looks like a girl..it could be a girl or a boy and his parts haven't dropped..but if its a boy..it's probably a boy because its harder to mistake a boy
